Y'know, they easily could've fixed this narrative by making it that Flashpoint created rips and tears in the Speed Force and it needed repairing and Barry was spending time doing that, instead of making it all "oh, he needs to fill Savitar's prison"

Speed Force prison makes no damn sense. "It needs an occupant". It still has an occupant. Just because that one instance of Savitar left doesn't mean he's actually gone. The Speed Force exists at all points in time, even existing prior to it's very creation, so it could just keep the prison part at a point in time when Savitar was in there.
