I think everyone should just calm down and buy a cassette recorder and call it a day.

My hot take is the MacBook Pro M3 Pro base model is the one to get for music production. Gives you the best power/cost combo. Go Max if you also do video production. For only music, the increase in power doesn’t equal the increase in cost. Base M3 almost not worth it once you upgrade the memory to 16GB.

11 core m3 pro has only 5 P cores and 6 E cores and DAWs like (Ableton and even Logic Pro) cannot use E cores unfortunately, that means that we are able to use only 5 P cores of the m3 pro, whereas m2 pro with 12 cores for a cheaper price has 8 P cores and 4 E cores that would most likely cover music producers' needs better.

The M2 Pro/Max was already overkill for most producers. We’re well into diminishing returns territory now for music production. Unless you’re a 3D graphics artist, 8K video editor, or still rocking an Intel MBP/iMac, there’s very little reason to upgrade.

I’d go maxed out because I score film and orchestral sound libraries murder your ram.

Did I miss the part where he talks about the MAX? lol @iammusicmogul - your title is misleading 😠

Great explanation and walkthrough, enjoyed watching it. Will keep my M1pro 16inch w 1TB and 16gb it is amazing w Ableton Suite still and editing. Here’s another tip… everyone look at the older models and save 💰 for plugins, synths and instruments

Great video! Thank you. I've been on my 2012 MBPro and ready to upgrade and am looking at the 16" M3 Pro. I hope Serum, Fabfilter, and Ozone will work ok on Sonoma.

512gb in a $2, 000 "pro" machine is criminal. Appreciate the concise video!

Just ordered the M3 Pro despite my better judgment and past experiences. Definitely paying for AppleCare+ this time around.

If your M1 does the save your money and DON'T upgrade. Stop being influenced by pathetic youtubers.

Hey Music Mogul. What about single core performance over the M1pro/max? I have run into a ceiling with that in certain situations with my M1max. E.g. Diva with voice stacking and low latency buffer settings tends to push my M1 over the limit. Only slightly but it's enough so as to not be usable. I wonder if the extra bit of single core performance on the M3 might allow for just a bit more headroom. Enough to avoid overload. IF the M3 did that it might be worth upgrading to. For me anyway.

Hi i have a question please! I can’t find the MacBook pro m1 2021 / 16gb of ram in my region! But i found MacBook Pro m3 8gm ram for the same price as the m1 do you advise me to go for it for music? I’m a beginner but i also into singing on pro tools more than making songs on ableton or logic. Because that’s my budget for now

I was predicting with a iMac i5 2017 till a few months ago, I could fly to the moon with it. I got a MacBook Air m2, how funny it's not as powerful with the same amount of RAM :(

the base model mac studio is way better long term option for a music producer imo. I love my m1 max, it does everything i need for making beats there's literally no limits . BUT the one thing i never thought about when i purchased it was the noise that it would create. if you get deep into a session, and those fans kick in, it really hinders your ability to record vocals or instruments IF you don't have a booth or separate space to record in. Mac studio on the other hand makes ZERO noise, only down fall is its not as portable obviously. but lets be honest most if not all producers use there laptops as a sudo desktop anyway.
