Why you feel disconnected from your sense of identity | Dissociation
Description: Have you ever felt DISCONNECTED from yourself and the world around you? For example, you may feel detached from your body or feel as though the world around you is UNREAL.
With this pandemic looming on our heads, more people are starting to experience this phenomenon.
I experienced this feeling in early January this year, but I couldn't understand what was it that I was feeling exactly. But I've come to discover that it's called DISSOCIATION.
Interestingly enough, I've come to learn that many people will experience dissociation at some point in their lives. Lots of different things can cause us to dissociate. For example, we might dissociate when we are very stressed, or after something traumatic has happened to us. We might also have symptoms of dissociation as part of another mental illness like anxiety.
Good thing is, for many people these feelings will pass over time.
Though dissociation is pretty harmless, it can be quite an uneasy feeling to experience.
