Massive success = good genes, hard work
Success = good genes, laziness
Failure = bad genes, hard work
Massive failure = bad genes, laziness

In conclusion, genetics is more important than hard work.

Yes, clearly ability of all kinds is profoundly influenced by genes. Most people refuse to accept it, but your capabilities as a human are largely shaped at birth.

The problem with this model is that it ignores the crucial characteristic of creativity, namely that it creates value. Also, in satisfying our needs and aspirations we remove value. Which means that while inequality is unavoidable, it is not a zero-sum game. Creative people will accumulate, but what they accumulate less than they create. Because the need for uncreative work will continue to exist and will be available only if the less creative people can make a living. It is when we try to limit the accumulation at the creative end that demand for uncreative work drops and its value decreases.
Moreover, people do not breed uniformly. And while education hasn't an exclusive role in in intelligence and creativity, it tends to be driven to a large extent by a healthy hunger for social advancement. This is why the poorest and the richest will breed the least, because they are too busy to generate value and this is why intelligence and creativity does not stay for long within a stable elite; at least not in a free society.

Mostly, your lot in life is predetermined and there isn’t too much you can do about it.

I'd love to hear Thomas Sowell debate JBP on the merits of the Matthew Principle in a free market.

I love Jordan. But it’s very dangerous to think that succes is predetermined by genetics.

“Until you make the subconscious conscious. It will direct your life and you will call it faith” -Carl Jung

A lot of people are living in a reactive state without doing introspection. Consistency and hard work will always beat luck and talent. Think about it. If you keep going at it. If you keep going at it. Eventually something will stick and work out.

Yes there are many factors like
Health, IQ, education and environment. But you still have the choice to outwork others and achieve big goals. I think Emotional intelligence is massively underrated still.

The truth. Genetics govern all of our traits: height, aggression, extraversion, intelligence, propensity to gain fat and the like. If you who can't acknowledge this fact, I don't know what to tell you.

The Pareto distribution does indeed convey the way in which wealth is distributed across the world. However that coin flipping example is complete nonsense and - ceteris paribus- coin flipping contest will always respect a normal (Gaussien) distribution.

this video has nothing to do with genetics and performance the title is off topic.

I don’t agree - people have to be taught how to learn and that teaching comes from the environment. Although some of the other stats are valid and interesting

One should be cautious about taking their DNA as something which they have to be determined by. Something Peterson fails to mention here, but which is probably somewhat in line with his thinking, is that you can modulate your lifestyle in ways that account for negative genes. With relatively cheap DNA tests you can actually identify which of your SNP's that are the most highly correlated with succes, IQ and cognition are suboptimal. Thereafter it's posible to up/downregulate the epigenetic expression/ the amino acids or the functions they regulate with lifestyle, diet...

Still, there are many important factors beside DNA and one can argument those with a higher IQ will use said instruments more readily than others.

So what’s the solution to one person ending up with all the resources? Surely that can’t be right, everyone needs a little.

Right out of the door there's a dumb comment by JP. "You can make people stupider with the environment, but not smarter." Really? How about addressing the environmental conditions that promote stupidity? Wouldn't that make people smarter? Or is the environment an eternally static quantity. I have lost so much respect for JP after learning about all the nonsense he has spewed in the service of becoming personally rich.

That's why it's we on the inside and mildly moldy and mannered to the point of dishwasher.
