I'm 35. I found jordan peterson 4 years ago. When I was going thru a tough time. I was homeless, jobless with no hope or direction. Since then I've found my passion. I started with Nothing at the bottom. But I started living right and stayed constant with my goals. Now im at the top of my field with a 6 figure income and climbing every day. Just have to have a clear head, have definitive goals, and Chase them constantly

“In terms of habit; you become what you practice” Love it JP!

I was WAY too agreeable and through JP podcasts I’ve learnt to be more assertive, to standup for myself and be comfortable saying NO to friends and family who took advantage of my agreeableness ✊🏼 woo!

I read Twelve Rules for Life four years ago, and have watched untold hours of his videos. His genius and his ability to communicate his knowledge still amazes me.

Hey chief, I’m not sure if you ever see these comments, but I just wanted to throw out a thank you for keeping these free and posting so frequently. It’s always nice to have an hour or so out of my day to really think about something specific within the vast topic of life which not only will help me with how I approach my future but which also keeps my mind active and nimble.

Mental health is the ability to negotiate with and navigate in reality in good humor. It is not seeking escape through addiction. It is not soothing the ego with delusion. It is simply looking forward to the day when you wake up and being curious about things you don't understand yet.

If you are suffering from procrastination, its definitely a fear, something has scared you (criticism so intense that its paralyzed your judgements). Its crazy how you have to start little by little to gain confidence in yourself again, by doing small things to completion AND telling yourself that you did a good job. Overcoming these negative thoughts/criticisms is the key skill to mastering your reactions to criticism and your environment (negative, hostile).

May Gods love be with us all.

Jordan! There is something different about you. It’s in your voice, in your comments and your disposition. It appears that perhaps you are truly at peace with yourself! It’s really nice to see.

Timestamp: 11:36 The modeling of play, for which I am delighted it was in the context of collaboration with Tammy. Dr. Peterson actually looked "younger" at 12:04 with Tammy's honest response. Spontaneous. Honest humor, that even the audience resonated with. It was heartwarming. Bless you both for your energy and modeling wellbeing...reinforcing the valuable lecture material.

I think my depression got worst with my phone addiction and I kept rejecting my self
I can her telling me to stop but I ignored her cries with food, sleep, staying up all night watching random crap
And that made Me feel good for a short moment and sad for weeks

So yeah try waking up earlier, pray, eat a good breakfast, clean ur closet first then the bed then the floor ect

Baby steps, be gentle to yrself, join the gym and lift weight, cook Nd clean
U will feel alive

Growing up as a teen in the 80’s, I can reflect on how much was just common sense back then. We all understood individuals had emotional strengths and weaknesses. Second Dr. Peterson gave a remarkable example of how psychologists or therapists use to work with patients to help control their mental illness. Now all these doctors do is ask specific questions in order to hop you up on the latest psychiatric drugs. All society does now is make you feel special to be a victim. So the trend is to be a victim not mentally tough.

This is Jordan Peterson at his best. Calm, encouraging, incredibly articulate, creative, making new connections within his work. I like JP most when he is the one being interviewed. He should have Tammy on stage with him more. It’s a great dynamic and she brings out the best in JP. Overall, fantastic clip. One of his best recently.

Best advice I heard from Peterson is that thinking about yourself makes you depressed.

When I get depressed now I try and think about my family and do something nice for them. When I'm alone I practice thinking about nothing, or something useful (like learning a skill).

It makes a huge difference. I'm 100% convinced that depression (that isn't caused by a physical health problem) is created by our thoughts.

And... we have more control over our thoughts than we think....

Aww Jordan. I love this side of you. I think because of the chaos of the world lately we've seen more of the angered warrior, but I love seeing the wise conpassionate counselor. More, please.

My big fives were tested within my psychology study and it is so amazing how much this test helped me to understand myself, my behaviour, my actions, and the extent to which I can influence that. Also, what I learned is to understand being an "open introvert". It feels like reaching out, being confident about this but then regretting whatever you did or said. The mind is a weird yet incredible place.

He so gently discusses this, I can see how he would be a great therapist. 😊

I have been in the stage of learning to discipline my life and self. Learned behaviors/habits are not easy to break. I am trying to be proactive when I recognize signs but I have not mastered keeping myself out of depression. It's so comforting to stay wrapped in bed and not let people hurt you. I am also managing impulse and anger issues at the same time. I have to pull myself up and out by myself because no one but a counselor is able to help me. It's best to stay away from people so I dont hurt their feelings. People run away fast as soon as there is work to do no matter the kind of work it is

Well, all I can say is I used to have a big problem with depression. I tried supplements, herbs, and psychology, but the only thing that brought me lasting relief was self deliverance in Jesus' name. In my situation, the depression was mainly a spiritual problem.
