6010 Downhill FILL and CAP Techniques

Показать описание
Using 6010 or other cellulose rods for fill and cap passes are very normal in API 1104 code procedures. We've shown how to run fill and cap pipe using 7018 in many videos. In today's video we are going to show you how to run a downhill fill pass and cap pass using a 1/8" 6010 rod on 2 inch pipe.

Talk with Bob, Jason and Mancub!

Great stuff Bob as always. Can weld.com do a 6g test a short arc root and fluxcore fill and cap episode in the near future?

Russian saying; the old horse of a furrow does not spoil!
It is perfectly worked
The furrow did not deteriorate and is deeply plowed

Love how its a good weld but even he isnt perfect looking. But I saw no under cut. So smoothing that line out is 100% ok.

Hello, how many amperes do you put on the first pass and what is the clearance in millimeters?

I must have missed it. Was amperage 80 on cap as well or less?

I've been retired for years now but I still like to weld and I like to watch welding videos but there is one video that I cannot find on welding pipe downhill years ago when on the field I welded inland and offshore both, I was with five different offshore oil companies through different Marine contractors who had the contract and offshore we mostly welded everything with 6010 5p plus rods and when it came to capping the pipe there was a butterfly cap that's what it was called, a downhill butterfly cap and it was nice and flat and beautiful what you did you weaved from side to side and you paused coming down here and during the pause you gave it a slightly push uphill and then you went to the other side and paused and gave it a slightly push up but when you push the rod up you paused the moment and it look like butterfly wings it was called The butterfly cap another thing you never see online anymore and I learned this from an old pipeliner who actually went to Jamaica years ago and taught Jamaicans how to weld pipe I remember he told us that they got in a fight over their badges they had never seen their selves in a mirror before and he had to take all their badges away from them and redistribute them cuz they had their picture on the badges and they got to exchanging tthem and then they got in a fight on which badge belonged to what person kind of hilarious but anyway this pipeliner they would teach you at Pearl River Junior college when welding uphill pipe with 6010 they would show you what was called a block lace and it was kind of like welding uphill with 7018 but it was different with the 6010 uphill block lace, you paused on one side of your filler run and you drug it to the other side straight across then you whipped your rod up came out of the puddle and you came back down into it and then you paused the moment then you went straight across to the other side as soon as you go to the other side you pick your rod up whipping it up and you came back down into the puddle and you left a little fat bead there and then you drug it straight across it really left a beautiful block lace all the way up the pipe but the real thing that I would like to see and whoever jumps on this they will be the first one on all of YouTube cuz there's no other video, ive searched, that will show the downhill 6010 butterfly cap.

I'm self teaching how to weld FCAW. Do you have any videos that will help me on seeing the puddle? I'm having a hard time seeing it. I have the shade at 11. Thank you.
