The cinematography in this movie is the biggest improvement from the original. Love how they attached the cameras to the jets so we as audiences felt like we were on the cockpit together with the actors. You feel the need, and the need for speed 👊

That shot of the Tomahawk missiles flying past the jets made me audibly say "wow" in the theater. When we talk about mixing CGI and live action effectively, that's the kind of shot we should be thinking about.

Top Gun: Maverick is one of the few aviation movies I love where it goes to show that you dont need the mouth to convey such a wide range of emotions. No moments where the characters unnecessarily take off their masks just so that the audience can tell what they're feeling when the eyes can perfectly convey it for them. I wish all movies could follow this principle with masked/faceless characters

That shot of Pete and Penny looking out at the ocean made me audibly gasp out loud-
It had been so long where I had watched a new movie where the director embraced "show, don't tell".
You didn't have to know what he told her, you felt the weight of them both accepting that he may never return home. Couple that with Hans Zimmer's amazing score, and you have a phenomenal scene.

I'm not a big fan of airplane movies, but I am a Tom Cruise fan, and I did see the first Top Gun movie directed by the late Tony Scott. Now with the direction of Kosinski, the cinematography of Miranda and Tom Cruise, and the cast they made, and now it is the highest-grossing movie in history.

I originally remember seeing “Top Gun: Maverick” in movie theaters back in June of 2022 when I was aged 13 years old. It was used to be one of my favorite and beloved films of 2022 when It was originally going to debut 2 years ago in movie theaters but it didn’t in 2020.
