In the book "The Making of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith" - there is an original script scene where Anakin Skwalker fights Count Dooku, where he reveals that he was the one who arranged the death of Anakin's mother and the sand people!

This was later cut out, and then Palpatine's line was inserted where he asks Anakin rhetorically if he remembers what he told him about his mother and the Sand People.

What do you all think?!

Thanks for watching and may the force be with you always!!!!

Do you think Dooku was the one who arranged it all (of course by Palpie's orders lol)
who has read this book back from 2005??

No wonder anakin hated dooku. He made anakin go back to tatooine, meaning anakin came into contact with sand again.

If this "Count Dooku was bragging about arranging Shim death" is true, then it would have changed the movie in a different way. When Anakin figure out that Counselor Palpatine is Darth Sidious, and that Count Dooku was his apprentice, then he would kill Palpatine as well for also being involved in his mother's death.
-Or Sidious would say that Dooku did it without his knowledge and the movie plays out as it did.

I love how Ian Mcdiarmid(not sure i spelled that right) is actually super friendly and nice while in character he is evil and manipulative. It is just amazing how he is so good at what he does.

Oh my god, it's so likely Dooku and Palpatine arranged this and it gives the whole story so much more depth... Love that!

I'm actually happy that was cut out of the script, because if it was part of the plot, it would further show that the whole galaxy has it out for/revolves around Anakin.
The fact that it was more or less random was an opportunity for Anakin to be able to accept things will happen in the galaxy without him, it was an opportunity to reflect on some humility, had he not had a deep anger already.

I can see why George didn't follow through with this idea. If it went like that, it would mean Anakin would have a seething hatred for Palpatine for ordering the death of his mother. He would be unlikely to follow Palpatine for that reason alone.

If anakin was told this in the beginning, I think he would have connected the dots when he later finds out that palpatine is the sith lord they've been looking for. He would've known he was behind his mother's death and possibly seek to exact revenge against the chancellor. I think it was taken out of the final cut to prevent this.

I agree. I think Palpatine molded the dreams, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. Remember, the Emperor had a gift of foresight, one on which Vader heavily relied in Return of the Jedi. Anakin was too important not to manipulate from the start.

It also helps explain why Shmi was kept alive and tortured for so long. There never seemed to be any value in the kidnapping for the sand people. Unless they were being bought. Great video.

Palpatine 100% orchestrated Shmi's demise. He wasn't one for allowing things to chance ("everything that has transpired has done so according to my design" ROTJ)...and knew how to manipulate every being he met to his will. A true Machiavellian genius.

I’m glad this isn’t canon. I could buy palpatine doing it, but I don’t buy Dooku. Dooku is clearly supposed to be the Star Wars Robert E lee. (Not the actual person. The mythologized “good guy fighting for the wrong side!” Version.) Dooku is misguided, not evil. At least, that’s how he was in episode 2. He kills good people, but he’s fighting a war against a corrupt as hell government. Why would Dooku bother fucking with anakin like this? You could say “palpatine ordered him to, so he did it!” But wouldn’t he be suspicious? He should know that the sith turn on each other. He should have known then and there that palpatine would betray him. He looks pretty surprised when palpatine tells anakin to kill him. I think George realized all of this, and that’s why it was cut.
