Thanks for that ! For those of us living with dns for almost a lifetime with the attendant complications, the dream still hovers when a permanent system of nasal stent or brace or similar could be inserted to bring some relief. Many doctors around the world still advise against surgery for fear of 'complications' despite the willingness of the patients to go ahead!

Been dealing with a deviated septum for almost a decade. Found out the wait list for a consultation for a doctor is over a year where I live. Don’t wish this on anyone.

Thoughts, considerations, nightmares and scares:
Deviated septum really makes me suicidal, combined with enlarged nose turbinate. Plus I had bad posture, coz of online school, disrupting my breathing patterns, I feel ribs flair out. I don't feel my abdomen moving when I breath, then I heard about myths about breathing too hard could cause pneumothorax (lung explodes or sth), so I kept on shallow breathing for like months. As for surgery, I worry about Empty Nose Syndrome. Abandoning all plans, I survived 2 toughest semesters, still passed and got GPA 3+.

Now I started doing short walks, spending more time outdoors, instead of locking myself in a stuffy room for 18 hrs and maintain a good posture. So far, I haven't been struggling except nighttime, I struggle to breathe when lying in bed without a well ventilated room. Deviated Septum combined with enlarged nose turbinate is scary, when you couldn’t breathe, you start panic, every time I thought I gonna die, I delete Google History (jokes!), I avoid bathing with hot water coz steam makes me unbreathable, my worst scare is to die in the washroom or suffocate in sleep. Also I have been relying on mouth breathing for almost a year now, everyone breaths with nose but you couldn’t, that’s what I felt, occasions are with Afrin ofc, if I use Afrin I could prob breathe with nose for 15 hrs.

Whether you are a boy or girl, it's tough, life is tough, but you are tough as well, I am sure you can make through this, I am sure there will be a cure for us in the near future. God bless. This thread doesn’t ends here.

There are multiple methods that came out in the last 2-4 years that can treat deviated septum without surgery.
This video came out 9 months ago, someone didn’t do their homework...

I have one because I was made fun of for having a pointy nose. So I would smash my nose to try and keep the point from sticking out. Now I regret it so much.
