White rice is a favorite in our house, because it goes so well with so many dishes and it is so easy and quick to make. White rice just takes minutes to prepare and it looks so nice on your plate, and you can add other ingredients to it as well. I love adding garlic, peas, carrots and corn and that is the most delicious Arroz Blanco Mexicano, one of my favorite sides. You can season White Plain rice with cilantro and lime or just simple pepper and butter for a delicious dish. White rice is easy to make, but it's important to know the exact ratio of water and rice and time needed, in this video I will explain. I hope you give it a try . ❤️

INGREDIENTS----------------------
1 C. Long grain rice or Jasmine
1 3/4 C. water
3/4 tsp Salt or (to your liking)
1 Tbsp butter (salted butter)

TIPS : (you can try these tips if you like)
● Do not remove lid when rice is cooking or 15-20 minutes after cooking. Steam is what gives you fluffy rice.
● You can add 1/4 C. extra water if using an enameled dutch oven
● Cook your rice on a low simmer setting
● You can use Jasmine rice in place of long grain rice if you wish.
● Rinse rice well until water runs clear before cooking.( removing the starch will help give you fluffy rice)
● Let rice sit covered 15-20 minutes before serving
● Be sure to use a tight fitting lid when cooking rice so you won't lose steam
● All stoves are different and so is cookware, you might have to practice a few times before you get it just right for you, do not leave your rice un attended.

Rachel, I'm 66 years old and for the first time in my life over maybe the last 6 or 7 years I have been CRAVING Mexican flavors at the medium heat level. You have provided SO many choices of dishes that you are my go to when I want some spice in my culinary life.

Took me 70 years to figure this out, but your simple technique does work well. I use non-stick, even proportions of rice/water, 20 min on the burner/simmer, and 10-15 min rest time.

The biggest problem I used to have was rice burning or sticking badly to the pan. Pulling it off early letting the steam finish the cooking solves that problem.

Being part Asian, I have a pot for cooking rice I inherited from my mom and my siblings and I fought over it. I'm the oldest, so I got it. Our family rinsed the rice not only to get the starch out, but to remove arsenic. One cup of rice, add water, stick your index finger above the rice and add water until it reaches 3/4 of the way to the first line of your finger. Boil on high until half the water is gone. Lower heat to low when it stops boiling, cover tightly and cook for 20 minutes. I tell people not to buy a rice cooker because it is a waste of money and it's just another appliance in the way. No matter how you cook it, all that matters is that it turns out great like yours 😊😊. My mom use to sometimes overcook it because she liked a crispy bottom and my grandfather would take rice when it cooled down and make rice balls and sprinkle salt on them for us kids when we were little 😊😊😊😊

Rachel, I live in a high altitude, I used to live at sea level, and cooking and baking are a whole different animal 😂 Years ago my mom found a recipe where you bake the rice! This is the only way I can cook rice at my altitude and it turns out beautifully each time! When I moved to Colorado in 2017, I had to learn how to cook and bake at altitude, baking cakes used to be my thing, but not anymore! I’m still learning how to bake and it’s getting easier now, but I cried a lot when things didn’t come out right! Rice is one of my favorite things and I have mastered it at altitude 😊
