Mother Leaves 4 Young Kids Home Alone While She Enjoys 8-Day Vacation: Cops

Erin Lee Macke allegedly made no arrangements for anyone to watch her four children, ages 6 and 7 and 12-year-old twins, during her scheduled 8-day European vacation. Cops say the Iowa mom left them alone while she went on a trip to Europe. "She left the kids in the care of the two 12 year olds," according to police, who got in touch with Macke in Germany and told her she needed to get home. She has been charged with four counts of child endangerment and an additional gun charge involving a firearm in the house that her kids reportedly had access to. #InsideEdition

I vividly remember watching my two younger siblings. I’m 10 years older than my little sister, and 5 years older than my little brother. My mom would go to work and I would watch them. She always had our next door neighbor come check on us, but even at my age, watching my two younger siblings was a lot! I was in charge of their well being. For her to leave all 4 of her children alone, that’s just mind blowing! I hate even leaving my Yorkie at home alone when I’m at work. It gives me great anxiety! I don’t know how a “mother” could do this. I have a 13 year old who hates going to the store with me, so I leave him home alone. However, when I am out of the house I am calling and checking on him constantly. Never would I ever, and I mean ever, leave my son alone to take a freaking vacation for 8 days! Truly mind blowing! The straight up anxiety I would have would be riveting! She doesn’t deserve those kids! Period!

Geez when will people learn that being a parent has never been and will never be easy. Stop having unprotected sex if youre *NOT* ready to take care of something. Kids need to be fed and taken care of just in case you forgot😧

The Dad got custody of the 2 youngest kids. She was given 2 years probation. Ridiculously light sentence.

I'm guessing if the judge has ordered her to have no contact with her children, then she go exactly what she wanted. She clearly has no maternal attachment to them. Hope she gets jail for her selfishness.

As an 8 year old, I was accidentally left alone at my grandmother's house for four days. She had two German Shepherd Dogs. A man came to the yard every day to feed the dogs. I didn't know him so I hid. He never realized I was there. I ate hot dogs and corn chips, etc. Unlike my own home, it was peaceful there. I played with the dogs and watched TV and drew lots of pictures. I would have been afraid if the dogs had not been there.

When I was 10 years old, I babysat my 6 & 4 year old cousins during the day while my aunt was at work. But even with two 12 year olds, and two younger children for 8 straight days was over the top. I was the eldest of six and used to taking care of my younger siblings as long as I could remember.

What about the father not once did he say "she could have left the kids with me if she needed a' break' ". Especially, if he did not find this surprising.
