Just two days before Mother's Day and a Polk County mother is sitting in jail, accused of leaving six kids home alone with nothing to eat.

I am a retired teacher: A middle schooler was asked to babysit for her toddler brother all the time by a mother who was busy, tired, young, into nails and hair. Was at the pool with him one Saturday while the mom was out shopping. The toddler drowned. The middle schooler never forgave herself. You can imagine her life. Died of an overdose at 23.

I was raising my 3 little brothers when I was 11, my mom's an abusive, alcoholic, and would rather be at the bar than at home with us. It was hard getting everyone up and ready for school and then after school, cooking dinner and bathing them and putting them to bed, and people wonder why I left home at 14 and got knocked up at 15, because once I was pregnant I was legally my own adult

The neighbor stops her car "all the time to put the 2yr. old baby in front of the garage" but never calls CPS ?? God there are some really ignorant people walking among us. You would think at least one of the six different daddy's would have babysit. smh.

I feel mostly sorry for the 14yr that feels guilty explaining the mother's choice of action... This seems sad but it's a blessing in the end for the kids to be able to be kids again

Some people really shouldn't have children!!! The neighbors are stupid they knew the mother does this and leaves her kids with no food!! I'd of called a long time ago luckly that baby didn't get killed or snatched!

Another irresponsible parent. Neighbor should have called Police long before she actually did. A case of not wanting to get involved.

Knew of a similar incident many years ago. 2 related couples with 8 CHILDREN collectively, a 6 months old, 2, 3, and 4 yr olds, 2 boys about 9 -12, a 14 yr old girl, 15 yr old boy left alone for the weekend when all 4 parents went on a religious retreat. Kids were cousins. CPS was tailing this family from this incidents and some others, all serious. When these people moved out of state, CPS from the new state was ready and waiting for them before they even took up residence. The 14 was in charge of all those kids over the weekend. I am shaking my head remembering it. 😱

There should be mandatory sterilization (snip, snip!) for unmarried men and women producing children they cannot support and won't take care of. SIX CHILDREN??? All with different daddies, I'm guessing. All 7 of them, including the mother, are no doubt on welfare. Is she selling her food stamps EBT card to buy drugs? Sounds like.

A little Mexican baby about 18 month old ran in front of my car, causing me to crash as to not to hit the baby. The police just returned the child to the mother 2 blocks away.
