I am a Veteran of Indian Armed Forces. We have vast land and sea, long borders with hostile neighbors... Hence we need these large quantities of basic military infrastructure. On the other hand UK is very differently placed, hence they can spend more on Technology and Nuclear power.
But one thing that is the biggest difference - Indian Soldiers. I can guarantee that very few military in the world has that kind of professional, battle hardened and dedicated soldiers. People must be knowing the stories of Valour and Courage of Indian soldiers fighting for the British in World War I & II
