It does pain like hell for first 5 days during and after bowel movement. First 2 days after surgery are horrible...Cant sit, Cant sleep, Cant stand. Justin repository helps to reduce pain in first 5 days. Need to take hot sitz bath every hour for first 5 days. Day 6 to Day 19, pain reduces day by day. From day 20, there is no pain at all.

Hemerrhoidectomy Recovery

I am right now trying to recover from hemerrhoidectomy, and I’m going to post on as many videos as I can to try to help others.

First, know what you’re getting into and be prepared! I honestly thought I’d be able to go to work the next day. I remember talking to my surgeon about this when scheduling the surgery. How did I leave that office without knowing this was going to be an excruciatingly painful and intense recovery??? Was she being deceptive? Or did I really misunderstand? I don’t know, but I do know this - I was completely blindsided! Do your homework, and be prepared!

Second, don’t just get ready for post surgery. Do what you can pre-surgery! I’m grateful I cleaned my house, because I was not able to do ANYTHING for the first two days, and not much more in days 3-4. Pay your bills, clean your house, get your errands done, make sure your taxes are done, etc., as you will not want to deal with any of that during recovery.

Prepare your digestive system and colon. Of course you want to follow the advice of your doctor, but I read someone did a liquid diet for two days before surgery. That’s brilliant! Because right now in day 4, I’m dealing with the WORST constipation I’ve ever had it n my life! I have been in the bathroom minimum of 20 times today, and I finally had some movement. It honestly felt like I was giving birth! I yelled and screamed as if I was, too! Bonus: I now know my neighbors are deaf or just don’t care what happens to me, because you’d think there was an all out assault going on! And there was! So I don’t say this to scare anyone, but if anyone would have told me how bad it would be, and to change your diet two days before to avoid or mitigate the pain, I would be forever in their debt. This is why I’m passing it along to you!

My last tip for today is to stick up on gentle baby wipes and large pads (I went with bladder control). I went through about three pads and 10 wipes a day in the first three days, and about 8 pads and 30 wipes in day four alone! I did not even know I would need pads until after surgery! They put one on me after surgery, and the nurse gave me ONE to take home! I started my delivery order while I was still in the recovery room, drugged up and all. I’ve made an order every day I was home as things became obvious.

Ask your doctor about a numbing shot that apparently lasts 2-3 days! Oh how I would give anything to have known that! I’ve read about it several times since my surgery. I had nothing! I woke up from surgery feeling like my butt was on fire and repeating PAIN! PAIN! PAIN! It was all consuming and took 15 minutes before they could give me anything and about 15 minutes for it to START to work! The first three days were unbelievable pain, even on strong painkillers! Again, not telling you this to scare you, but to inform and prepare you. Definitely ask about the numbing shot!

Take your pain pills as prescribed. Do not wait! If it’s every 4 hours, take it in 4 hours. If you wait until the previous pill wears off, it will take a long time for the next pill to build up enough to do any good. Don’t be a hero! Stay on schedule. I had a small notebook and wrote down the time I took my pills for each day as I took them. It’s easy to forget, especially at night.

Full circumference grade 4 external hemmorhoids. Pain post Op, a 3. Pain that evening, a 2. Pain for the next week…1 to 2. Acetaminophen only, didn’t touch the narcotics . Topical Xylocaine extremely helpful . Surgery was 2 weeks ago, improvement continuing. Just do it.

Doctor is lying, I did laser surgery for grade 3 piles. I'm on my 6th day and it still hurts like hell even with all the meds and diet (only when pooping though), unable to sit as well. Best way to cope is to minimise your solid food and take more liquids to be able to bear and of course the meds. Cant wait for the pain to go away 😢
