Glad you got around to mentioning the carnivore take on vitamin C. I read somewhere that it is heavy carbs that leach the C out more that the lack of it. Anyway, 12 month carnivore and no fruit or veggies and no sign of scurvy or any symptoms in the video and yes I eat lots of organs and marrow!!! Good video!!

fatigue is a big one, i ate healthy, exercised, ate my vegetables and proteins, no sugars, HOWEVER i didn’t eat any fruits with vitamin C, everyday i would be very tired and never get good rest, i would sleep 10 hours, be awake for 4 hours, then take a nap, i got blood work done and it turned out my vitamin C was in the gutter (0.01) a week after i started eating oranges daily, i was a changed person, way more productive because i wasn’t constantly sleepy or tired, my hair thickened up too and my gums stopped bleeding if i flossed too hard, also i used to get SUPER sick, full on vomiting, now when i get sick it’s mild

I suffered from nosebleeds for many years as a kid. I would literally GULP down blood while my held was tilted back. My mom finally took me to a doc when I was about 14 and he prescribed Vitamin C. That would have been in 1970 and I never had a bloody nose since.

Collagen synthesis: Vitamin C is involved in the production of collagen, a protein that is essential for skin, bone, and connective tissue health.

Iron absorption: Vitamin C can increase the absorption of iron from plant-based foods, making it easier for the body to access this important mineral.

How can we be deficient in anything when the government says there’s plenty of vitamins in our food? (sarcasm)

yeah, , glad that you cover that. IMHO the "collagome", all the functions around collagen building and maintenance is absolutely key. If the soft tissue (== everything except the calcium crystals in the bones) gets stiff, loses elasticity, that is the beginning of a lot of severe issues, as the extra-capillary fluids in the soft tissues do not reach all corners any more. Along with the fact that if vessels become weak for the same reason, it is a perfect recipe to breed inflammation all over. vit C for the potential of flexibility, and stretching, active and passive, for building actual flexibility and directing the stem cells into the soft tissue guarantees health to a great extent.
the link to neurotransmitters was new to me, thanks a lot!
One caveat however should be mentioned. Taking a lot of Vit C can mean that there is a bit too much, which then would be metabolized to oxalate. Not an issue if you drink 2 l per day or more, but many people do not drink enough anyway, and for those 2 g of vit C over some weeks could be not so good.

Your requirements for vitamin c plummet drastically when you eliminate carbohydrates from your diet. I'm at like 5-8g of carbs a day and they're entirely from eggs and cheese. I don't eat fruits or vegetables, I get all the vitamin c from muscle meats I need.

Many of these symptoms can also be caused by other things. So if you also see a ton of red dots all over your legs in addition to these symptoms, get a blood test. It could literally save your life. In my case it was a rare form of Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Thanks Tommy boy🙏🏽🙏🏽. I have a bleeding gum problem lately, could this also be a vitamin c deficiency?

It seems like one’s need for vitamin C is on a sliding scale depending on environmental or nutritional factors.

Shilajit in a black thick goo form contains 87 rare minerals. I get it from Russian Federation and its certified by the government for purity. One small jar cost me $25, took 4 months to get it and lasts 9-10 months. Its absolutely excellent. Dont get it in liquid form or powder or capsules its fake or deluded. I buy it on eBay. Thank me later.

The question would now be, how do you achieve the correct amount of vitamin c in the blood, when we first have to convert ascorbic acid into actual vitamin c with a conversion rate that leaves about less than one percent of usable vitamin compared to the precursor?

Doesn’t megadosing vitamin c over a longer period down-regulate your body’s self production of endogenous antioxidants?
