Damn :D I just released my own video on the DJI Neo - and yeah - just like yours .... lets say its not going great for it :D
I'm just a small german creator but I just thougt some one had to say something - imho the footage is just not usable for anything really -
DJI wants us to believe they made the drone for everybody - however I'm feeling like they made a drone for nobody.
Just to get it out of the way - its FPV mode is nice to have if you already own the googles and controller but this drone struggles to track you down when you move faster than 27 kmh - for an FPV drone this is a joke - and a very very bad one :D
But getting closer to the target audience - when you are one to take beautiful pictures/videos with your drone - you need 1. a good image (which the NEO does simply not have) and 2. a controller - however the fly more combo of the NEO costs 350€ which is 50€ more than the DJI Mini 4K with a controller and FAR BETTER picture quality.
But what if you want cool pictures of yourself doing sports? Well if you want to use these pictures anywhere outside of social media the image quality is just too bad. So if you want to get actually usable footage you would settle for a Hover Air or even the older Skydio drones.

So all in all the NEO is a 200€ drone you will buy for social media - probably use once or twice - post a short clip with rather questionable quality on instagram and than lock away in your room collecting dust.

Honestly - from a technical standpoint its quite impressive - but NO ONE actually needs this as there is nothing of value to do with it - "normal" people don't need to have a drone that follows them everywhere taking rather bad looking video for posting on social media all the time - and if you are even slightly more "pro" than posting on Instagram the image quality just doesn't cut it.

Thanks for coming to my TED-Talk (honestly just half my german video rephrased quickly :D ) and thanks for pointing this out!

It's so sad to see all the big youtubers praising it as the drone for "everyone" - no - its actually a drone for no one and rather than spending 200€ and lots and lots of precious resources on this we should start thinking twice whether we actually NEED something instead of always falling for the hype - especially in the tech-space.

EDIT: I also kinda highly doubt that all the "skate-parcours-FPV" shots in the Trailer which are "shot on NEO" actually are shot on NEO - they just look so much better than everything else we have yet seen of this drone ^^

I'm not a content creator and I think your opinions are more appropriate for the same audience. I just want a drone that does all those things for memories and for posting on social media. Neo does everything Hoverair does for half the price. It's a no-brainer.

It's a tiny whoop. A 200 dollar 4k 04 transmission system when used with a controller. Can fly with voice commands, an rc controller, the fpv controller 3, the motion controller 3, and it can connect to the goggles 3. A full-blown manual mode fpv tiny whoop or a super beginner voice command selfie drone. It's not for creators like the mavic and avata drones are.

You need to lower the default sharpness settings to -2 and fixes all the issues.

Neo is only half of the price of x1. I am not sure if there is a lot of people would pay extra $200 for slightly better image quality.

This is my scenario. I had a Mavic Air 1 for 2 years and loved it. It was stolen in a B and E and I've been wanting a replacement for years. But haven't quite been able to afford it when each new model releases and buying an older model is hard for me because of FOMO on new features. So I'm not a beginner pilot but I can't afford any other drone combo living pay to pay. I mainly use my footage for family holiday videos combined with phone and a gopro 9. I bought just the Neo drone by itself for 350 here in Aus with 2 years care refresh. I can bring it along on holiday and get great footage to complement my holiday vids. All the footage I'm seeing is fine for me. Sounds like an easy software update to be able to change sharpness etc especially if you can already do it in fpv. But that stuff is only things I notice. When my fam and friends are watching my videos they don't even notice any of that. So.. For me. 300 for what this drone can do is amazing and I've already seen some hacks to get better footage. I get to enjoy DJI drones again as a struggling consumer.

I love DJI drones and bought the Neo because I already have the Avata 2 to hone my skills, but DON'T try and practice with the DJI Neo in your home using the goggles and motion controller, as soon as it gets slightly close to a low light situation It will power forward at full speed (even if set to the lowest possible speed) and smash into the nearest me, I've found out the hard play though, there isn't even a scratch on it.

Finally someone said it good! The image quality is trash, hopefully they could easily fix through firmware

thanks for the honest review, I am rethinking buying this drone now

Bro, the only thing I noticed is that the DJI footage is brighter and the drone was closer to you

99% of people are not content creators. I’d say that the Neo is aimed at those 99%. I love the Neo, it makes a perfect con-anion to my existing Avatar 2 gear.

Neo footage looked ok to me, but the over sharpening needs a firmware update. Low, Med, High options.

Finally an honest reviewer who is not out there to just kiss DJI's ass. Every single day one reviewer is praising it having by 4k30 vs X1's 2.7k but the footage literally looks like upscaled 720p from an entry level 2020 smartphone camera

Real talk. You get what you paid for. This is good for us who cant afford avata or hover.

You can change sharpness to -2 and also white balance, ISO using the RC-N3 for much better quality🤷‍♂️

Not surprised one bit. As a dji owner and Hover owner, I fall back to the Hover every time for filming mountain biking. I love the dji mini 4 pro the most but its overhead it too much. X1 Pro Max, i hope will fullfill any and all short comings. Well soon it drops at amazon, I'll be the final judge between Neo and X1 Pro. Yeap, i'll be bying both any.

Thanks for your critical test of the DJI Neo. I also have the Hoverair X1 and enjoy the compact size by its foldable design and its simplicity. I will certainly use it in future when small size is an issue. Nevertheless the manufacturer ZeroZero provided a lot of updates to achieve the actual quality. I would give DJI an appropriate time for bugfix. I am certain the Neo will be improved according to user feedback.

Being so disappointed by the fact that a product doesn't perform as well as another product which costs twice the price is plain stupid. Maybe you'll understand this if you'll have clients asking for 200 pounds video to be as good as 400 pounds video as an example.

Respect your review, footage on both looked ok for this level of drones but I agree looks like the neo needs some post editing. Don’t forget neo is half the price and as we know DJI will send out updates to improve the neo
