I just bought DJI Neo, the reason I choose to buy (I never bought any drone before) is purely due to the how convenience it is to use for travel that only wanted to take aerial shot. This is super important when you have young kids around and don't really want to have a controller to be able to use a drone. I want to hold my kids while taking the shot with a drone. A preprogramme shot route is what make it really quick and easy to use. I'm surprise you don't mention this demographic type of user.

I have an Avata 2 and I just ordered the Neo as a “have fun, no stress” drone. Looking forward to flying it around indoors inside my house and (when the wind is low enough), practicing full manual mode outdoors. When I get more comfortable with the Neo, I’ll transition to more full manual flight with my Avata 2. I don’t really care about the camera not being great as I don’t plan on using it for making “production quality” videos. I have my Air 2s and Avata 2 if I want to make high quality videos. I’m getting the Neo for FUN.

I think one important thimg about this drone is, that it is affordable. I had some very cheap drones to play around with, but they were crap. I wanted to use a DJI mini or SE but for the "uses sometimes" its just to expensive (although of course I know value has its price). The neo now has a price where i can say "oh ok i could try that out"

Reasons to buy this. I just got mine two day

1. Cheapest quality video drone available perfect for beginners

2. Ai programs make it perfect for just about anyone to use not to menntion not needing controls

3. Cheap so its cheap to replace if the worst happens

4. Compatibility with many controllers. Phone and rcn3 is enuf for target market

5. Decent battery. I got the fly more combo so three batteries enuf for just casual use.

I always wanted the mini 3 pro or even the 3 but spending money on something I don't even know i will enjoy let alone something ill be using a lot is a no go and a waste of money. Casual vacatjon trips and to be able to record drone shots for cheap made tbis drone simply perfect. Video and photo quality is good considering price and the modes are fun and sinply perfect for instagram and tiktok. Clearly the market for these drones are those who do ig or tiktok, casual fun toy use.

In my opinion, the pitfalls on this drone are more apparent because DJI put specs on this a little too close to their flagship models. If it were given a more modest specs and didn’t have all the other features unlocked ( fpv) then people wouldn’t have a false expectations from it. I believe DJI purposely added all these features on the Neo to provide as gateway to the “real” thing. Folks who have zero experience flying drones gets a taste of aerial photography, fpv, etc, without the steep learning curve. The Neo is a “sampler”. It is a $199 toy from a big brand name that’s why the expectations are great. But for what it is, price, features, and ultra portability, it will be the edc of drones. It’ll find its way in every weekend bbq, ball games, casual hikes and so on and so forth. Kudos to DJI. You’ve unlocked a new market segment!

One thing about the Motion 3 that people forget is the headtracking. That is a cool experience to cruise around with. It also makes it intuitive and less-airsickness-inducing when letting non-FPV people try it out.

Appreciate the review and the tip about the sharpening and noise reduction. Very professionally made video that made me subscribe.

I have an Avata 2. LOVE IT!! If you’re on the line between the 2 and can spend about $1, 200 just GO AVATA 2. I’m about to get a Neo because the price is UNREAL for what it does BUT I have the Goggles 3 and controller so to add this is inexpensive.
DJI OWNS the drone world!! We need an American company to TOE THE LINE ASAP!

great fast review. i am a photographer and teaching people. the oversharpening is implemented, because people like this look on their smartphone devices. it fits the screen dimensions and pixel density and the closeness eye to screen.

What a fantastic review! I always get nervous watching reviews titled "unsponsored" because there's a temptation to be overly negative to prove one's independence. But this is perfect. Everything you say is valid and founded on genuine experience. No idea how you turned around the video so quickly - what's your secret?! Having tried (and failed spectacularly) to learn how to fly manual FPV, I do like the motion controller though!

nice work....as always the right tool for the job...most of the pitfalls are asking too much for this drone....it is meant for fun...not the work of a mavic 3 etc

2:58 woah woah woah, RC Motion 3 is a fantastic tool everyone should have in their bag, and I imagine the new Neo combo with cheaper goggles will still come with that and I 100% support it.

First of all, it's insanely intuitive, I've had people aged 3-80+ who never flew a drone pick it up within 10-30 seconds and fly FPV on their own. My kid started with original Avata and original Motion Controller when he was 5 and could just barely hold FPVRC2 in his hands, but since I had FPV Goggles V2 that were too big and heavy for his head, he needed to use one hand just to hold them comfortably on his face so he only had one hand left to fly with. So yeah he first flew with the motion controller, even though he already knew how to fly acro from the simulators. It was limited at the time, but he enjoyed it and got a lot of confidence for going through gaps, getting close to people, RC cars etc. With RCM2 and now 3 you get full control in N/S modes thanks to the added mini-joystick, and you get AR cursor for menus which is something I really miss from FPVRC1 where you didn't have to lift up your hand off controls to access goggle menus, and with Avata 2 and Neo you even get EasyAcro which enables the 180 yaw drift while keeping camera pitch stable, something you can't even recreate in Manual mode. So it definitely isn't useless. Over 2 years later and now with Goggles 3 my son can use both hands to fly and he does occasionally pick up FPVRC3, but definitely still prefers RCM3. I imagine it's gonna be the same for majority of people who are not already used to standard controllers as it just feels more natural. I'd still recommend anyone serious about FPV do pick up FPVRC3, just saying don't dismiss the RCM3 like that :)
