Here's the background to my DJI Neo experience. I had to agree not to publish anything while testing the Neo - fine.

I was asked to let DJI see the videos before release - also fine because I do that with all my review videos in case the company wants to comment. I make clear at the start I won’t change stuff just because they don’t like it.

I was sent some “talking points” along with the promotional video I’ve included (the flips etc). I didn’t look at the talking points until after I finished the video.

These are my honest unfiltered opinions of the Neo and X1.

Just waiting on delivery as my first drone, I’ll be using it for travel and moto logs, first use is my holiday in Lochgoilhead in a fortnight on my motorbike. Yes, I also have just a few action cameras mostly by DJI.

Thanks Simon for this helpful vid...I live in Montreal but am currently in the Nevada desert not far from Las Vegas, on a mountain bike trip in the desert. I was out today with my Mini 2 using the aftermarket Litchi control app to enable the hitherto-unavailable "Follow Mode", but while this app enables several variants of follows, the drone eventually got disoriented and started a rogue journey back to its starting point...much to my panic/chagrin !!!... fortunately I was able to recognize landmarks in the phone's display and managed to override "Go Home" mode to coax the delinquent back to my position, with no more than 5% battery remaining. Long story short I just ordered a Neo to a) eliminate the lengthy process of launching a conventional DJI drone from a bicycle and b) to keep it on a bit tighter leash. Looking forward to future vids of yours, cheers!

It still blows my mind that drones like the Hover and the Neo have made fantastic shots like that available to the consumer, which just a few years ago would have involved expensive equipment and a large production crew, and cost tens of thousands for just a few seconds of footage.

Great review and it looks like a great way to self film.
It’s one of those areas where just when you think “Maybe I will buy one” you wonder, if I wait 12 months what new features will be added.

Looks a good quick use drone but i think the ability to fold the Hoverair makes it easiest to carry in a back jersey pocket. Its a pain to keep taking drone out of backpack etc. Looking forward to seeing the new Hoverair drones due out.
