I love how you explain the why as well as the how (and that you are entertaining). Thank you for all of the videos! I would love to see a video on ways to fix shower drainage problems (without ripping out the shower floor if possible)! Thank you for responding as well!

Hey Jeff, long time watcher first time commenter. When you where measuring and saying to know the length of your tape measure. I use a method I feel is simplifies that. Both require addding. Maybe you will find easier and use yourself.
10 inches is the magic number
Measure from one end in 10 inches make a mark.
Now measure from the other end get your exact measurement and add 10 inches.
Perfect Everytime.
Hope you enjoy this method

7:35 there is something to say about investing in a good nail shooter if you're looking at the cost of screws across multiple projects compared to the cost of nails. Would take a few projects to pay off though.

I'm in Australia and I'm following along cautiously. There are many differences between countries, so far Australia and Canada seem to be remarkably similar.

I'm watching the video now. That storm you mentioned in the beginning of the video caused my electricity to go out at 2pm and it didn't come back on till 7. So I missed the Q and A. Guess I'll see everyone at the next one. I'm enjoying the video! Thank you!

Yeah. I brought the money pit house, I thought it needed a bathroom reno and ended up as a whole house gut and start over. Knob and tube wiring with lovely electrical splices wiithout junction boxes inside the walls and the like, Your channel has helped me avoid issues with my portion of the DIY that I feel comfortable completing, Especially drywall stuff. It has helped me a lot. I left the plumbing and electrical to the pros and I am so glad that I did. You did not mention in this video the importance of crowning your lumber. But cleared up the L stud and 3. Stud Mystery for me. You reminded me I really need to use nails on all the outside walls even if they were originally not load bearing because structural integrity and inspection scrutiny is important.. thanks for the great information Jeff.

A year late to this video but you touched on a question I’ve had about my basement. I have the same raised concrete footer(?) that Ashley Dobler asked about supporting a load bearing wall in the basement. I want to build a door into that wall and connect the two rooms and am wondering if I can remove a small segment of the raised concrete to make the rooms flush with each other. Thanks in advance if you get to answering this! Your content is awesome and I learn so much from watching!

the timing of the release of your videos are almost spooky. They always seem to line up with what I have going on. Thank you so much for all your expertise, you are a true no BS professional.

This video os going to help me a lot. Thanks. I’m going to frame my basement. Should I pull up glued carpet first? It’s really thin and I’m not sure if I can frame right over this or not.

Would you secure the top beam first when building a wall that can’t be built on the ground and lifted due to existing mechanicals?

Thank you so much for this tutorial. For the ceiling, how do I know the orientation of the 2 x 4 since the Sheetrock is on top of it. I always get mixed up

Just for the lack of dust and time I would use the scab method 1000 times out of 100

Question on interior walls that are not 90 degree corners. How big of a gap can you have between the studs in the corner that won’t effect finishing the drywall?
