We bought and RENOVATED this Creepy, Hoarder Cottage!! [Renovation COMPLETE BEFORE & AFTER]

IT'S FINALLY TIME!!!! At long last we can share with you one of our most extensive renovations EVER! The complete Before and After is here! One year of work is shortened to one hour for your viewing pleasure. Somehow it seems like every time we buy a home and renovate it, and say "this is the worst home we've ever worked on", then the very next home we buy is even worse than the one before! Now, the one historic home that even we thought might be too far gone, is, in fact, completely renovated and ready for it's next 100 years.

This sweet cottage started its life in 1926 as the cooks cottage on the Hope Farm property. It was built to mimic the Greek Revival style of the main home and was originally simple but full of lovely details. Sadly, for the past decade (give or take) the home was lived in by a hoarder, who not only neglected the property but filled it and the surrounding land with copious amounts of trash of every imaginable (and some unimaginable) kind. It was truly a place most foul. Rotten joists, termite eaten walls, a funnel spider infestation all combined to make most people think that the best solution for the property was a match and some lighter fluid...

Enter, Laine and Kevin, and our philosophy that "there's no such thing as a tear down". True, there were MANY times during this home renovation that we thought maybe this property was the exception to the rule. There was tears, blood, and sweat and MANY sleepless nights. There was far more money spent on this project than was budgeted. There was more DIY than we ever imagined, and so much had to be done that we had to call in help from all over. But in the end there was the CUTEST little dollhouse cottage that we can live in, enjoy, be proud of, and share with you.

Once the main home is finished this little Love Shack will be a guest cottage, and you can come and enjoy the peace and quiet of the surrounding nine acres. Nestled in the trees this little lovely is surrounded by bird song and butterflies, and is the perfect weekend getaway for your trip to visit historic Natchez, Mississippi.

This is a project we are truly truly proud of. In the immortal words of William Shakespear, "Though she be but small, she is fierce."

My Mother was born August 16th 1926, she would have been 98 yrs old now. She passed March 8th of 2021 at age 94. This was all a reflection of her era and you respected it so well. I cannot get enough of the Dutch door. What an enchanting decision that complements the Alice In Wonderland vibes of the place. It truly is like a Wonderland with Mid Century accents, like Walt Disney paid a visit and was inspired to produce a Disney version of the famous Lewis Carroll classic. What a feat. My restoration and other life goals are possible. That’s what these wildly near-impossible restoration journeys show me.
