We bought the most insane house I've ever seen - DIY House Flip - 5 Month Time Lapse Renovation

We bought a hoarder house FULL of junk and completely remodeled the entire house! In this video you'll see 800 hours of work over 5 months time - all in a 45 minute home renovation time lapse!

This is the finished product of our hoarder house renovation series. This hoarder house flip included everything from hoarder junk cleanup all the way to a full kitchen remodel, bathroom remodel, new flooring, and more.

We purchased this extreme hoarder house in April of 2020. We've done a few DIY house flips before, but nothing quite like this! We cleaned, demolished, and remodeled this house and kept it as a rental (using the BRRRR strategy for any real estate nerds out there.)

The amount of junk in this hoarder house was hard to believe. After spending a combined 110 hours cleaning the house with some friends, we uncovered a house with a great structure and layout to remodel into a very nice new home. I tried to capture as much of the process as a time-lapse video as I could!

I’m not a hoarder but watching this makes me realize how our stuff we buy and keep doesn’t really matter in the end. Makes me want to be a minimalist watching this.

I developed the habit, in my early 20s to go through my things every year and to give or throw away anything I hadn’t used in the previous two years. My wife is the same as well. Having kids has changed our routine a bit, we do have more stuff than we’d like; but the habit has helped us from accumulating a bunch of unnecessary junk.

Dark paint colors make rooms feel smaller. Dark gray has a negative affect on the psyche. I learned this in real estate psychology and feng shui courses. You did a nice job, but the color choices are depressing. Good job on the white cabinets and the flooring.

A waterbed! I thought the pile was alive:) It's so much easier to clean a hoard when the hoarder is not around saying "I want to keep that, keep that, keep that, keep that.

Was a painter 50 years. Now retired, but working on my building. I would do a lighter wall color. Makes it look larger. Great job overall!

I've never seen such a clean hoard. You were very lucky those floors were so easily cleaned. Fantastic and impressive work here 😊👍 I love the flooring you put in. And I can tell the gray walls are a lighter color that they appear here. Very nice. You're also lucky to have the realtor for this one.

Great video! I thought the same thing about painting behind cabinets but then it was explained to me that the paint seals the drywall and if you don’t paint it drywall really absorbs a lot of smells and can make the house smell very bad after a couple years

This was so cool to watch. Gray seems to be the go to color nowadays. I thought it was ok until I rented an apartment with all gray walls. I never realized how much color affected my mood until I lived in a gray apartment. It was beautiful apartment but the gray was causing me depression. My current place has white walls and I’m so much happier. It’s crazy how color can affect mood.

As someone who does junk removal, and has filled many 20 yard dumpsters...I felt pain for you when you said it took 9 for the entire house..😭 my head is reeling at the amount we would charge for a job like that..

On a side note, watching someone do what I do for a living while comfortable in my bed was quite satisfying. Cheers, great video

This looks like a perfect house to do a flip on, most people would be scared from the original mess and the house was in great shape to begin with.

I’m not sure if you had the home tested or not but popcorn ceilings very often have asbestos due to the materials that were used when they were most popular. If you don’t test, I would use full PPE with a full face respirator and a hepa negative airfan.

Beautiful job! As a renter, it’s really nice to see a landlord who has put so much effort and care into their property. You don’t get that a lot where I’m from 😅 people are pretty desperate for house and that’s being a bit taken advantage of but this was a beautiful job. Very lucky renters, for sure.

You did a beautiful jog. Before I was married, I owned my home and learned to, hang and finish drywall and you are right, it is not a fun job. I actually went through every room and remodeled.
