We are living in interesting times filled with technological advancements, and when information can be accessed by a push of a button. Another era in history during which growth was prevalent was the '60s; it was the era of women’s rights, civil rights, flower power, the heyday of rock and roll, and influential fashion. The '60s was indeed an era that defined generations to come and is still influencing many aspects of today's world.

Ever wonder what Americans in the '60s relied upon the way we do our iPhones? We can’t live without either those or our social media accounts today, but here’s what Americans in the '60s couldn’t live without.

Do you think 60s fashion will make a comeback?

At age 13 in 1966, I received a Kodak Instamatic 104. It worked great. I even had it fixed in the early 1980's.

The video mentioned the Instamatic camera. It should have also mentioned the Polaroid camera, which developed your pictures immediately, without having to take the film to a developer. Polaroids were VERY popular during the 1960s.

I could fill up this whole page with the things I remember about from that time. It was great growing up back then!

I still have a calculator. I remember late 60s and early 70s standing inline with my mom for the latest Beatles album. I still have a turntable also.

A lot of great memories. I just wish remembering them didn't make me feel so old. Too bad we can't go back in time.

I love the music from that era the most! One good thing on that is that you can listen to it anytime without having to live in that time period.

My father was born in late 1959 and he was a kid of the 1960s. He told me that the music was diffrent and he saw Apollo 11 live on tv in 1969.

Love it so many memories in here. I love the tie dye, and I remember the mini skirt. My aunt bought me a pair of the fishnet stockings back in the sixties (I was around 10 years old) and my mom made us take them back promptly. I had and still do have the lava lamp, firefly light. Calculators were coming in style but were usually awkward and expensive. Beanbag and basket chairs. Yeah there all coming back again. Awe if I could only go back in a time capsule to a simpler life with no computers. Wait I love my computer too!

Now, I'm not going to say that I wish I lived in the 60s, because I'm glad that we can just stream music for free whenever we want (unlike the 60s) and we have improved technology and medicine and stuff like that, but I do wish that a lot of things from the 60s were still around today. Like the clothing, I wouldn't mind walking around with colorful shirts and bell-bottoms. And the music, which in my opinion, beats any music from today. And I wish that a lot of people from the 60s were still alive, like John Lennon and George Harrison. So, I don't want to *live* in the 60s, but I wish that today still had some of what was in the 60s.

I grew up in the 60's & remember this stuff. Being in my 60's is not as much fun.

The 1960's were a whole 'nother mindset than we have today in the 2020's.

Portable electronic calculators didn't really get big until the 1970s. I was a mechanical engineering designer during the '60s, '70s & '80s. I didm't start using a calculator until the '70s. Before that, I had used a slide rule.

Throughout my life the calculator was always used as the prime example of electronics starting out real expensive and the prices eventually shrinking down to a few dollars.

The Pill was life changing. Finally women had a say over their bodies. Girls of today have no idea what a gift The Pill was. My mom had 6 kids by the age of 26. I was finally expecting my first child at that age. Only had children that I could afford and care for.

the other thing about thalidomide was that it caused severe birth defects in infants.

6:14 But when you used the cube flashes for the camera, you had to be careful because they were extremely hot after use.
