The reason things are expensive is also because salaries were easier to live on. One person could support the family and people only bought what they could afford. Otherwise things are almost the same price with inflation. People also lived in smaller houses and technology wasn’t as advanced.

Just an Anecdotal Memory: In the 1970s, I remember McDONALDs running ads for their "All American Meal", ( That may not be an exact match), that gave you a Hamburger, Small Fry, and a Small Drink for 99 cents. Change back from your Dollar.

My friend used to work at a burger joint in the '60s and the cheeseburgers were 35 cents.

Your presentation is good, the accompanying visuals are very good and your calculations for the natural increases due to inflation are real (I'm sure you used one of the many tools available for that). You're missing some stuff, though: e.g.: utility costs versus 1960s. The inflation figure comes up with ~$259.00, but reality is much higher than that virtually everywhere. Other context missing: Sports tickets are NOT ~$43.00, their well over $100.00 nearly everywhere. What's the reason for the rise? ("Superstars" are now paid exorbitant salaries, for one...) Clothing: Trends have contributed more to costs than inflation. I'm only about 6:00 into this video, and I have more questions than your answers give. More context than inflation is needed, here.

First, lets get some facts. A house back then was cheap and the location of it is now PRIME real state (for example, The Valley in LA County) and where 17.50 per meal nowadays in any place, not even MacDonals

You don't take into account that wages have increased. If you compare all three then maybe there would be a real difference

I’m just thru the first third of the video and I don’t see any unreasonable pricing so far. If you’re conversion rate is accurate then the products that you have mentioned are either in line with or above what we are paying now.
Okay I’ve finished the video and as near as I can tell, that only 5-10 prices (when calculating for inflation) were either in line with today’s or maybe a little cheaper.
THE REST OF THE PRICES were definitely more expensive than they are today.
So I’m afraid that your video is just a click bait to get people to watch your video. I would be interested in seeing how many thumbs down you got from people who lived in that period or have actually done some research on the economics of then vs now. I’m pretty sure that you will find out that prices haven’t really gone up or even dropped from the 1960s.

Candy bars. I am old enough to remember when they used to cost 35 cents and that was in the mid 70s. Now they are over 1 dollar. High prices today, have made itit so that I have to give up many things. In this case, it is to my teeth's benefit. Nice trade off.
