My whole life I never had dandruff or scalp psoriasis. Then, I had a baby and due to changes in the immune system, I developed scalp psoriasis at the base of my skull, right near my hairline. It’s very mild but it’s still so annoying and embarrassing. I feel for this woman. I love the courage she has to post videos of something that affects a lot of people.

I have it, and it gets so much worse in the summer. The issue with psoriasis is that it never leaves permanently. I have a special shampoo that I have to use, proscribed by a dermatologist, but also my hair is thick, which makes it hard to constantly get it down to the scalp. I hate my psoriasis, the thing about removing the patches, it's like temoving a scab, your head gets raw, and it hurts to touch afterward.

During the summer, when you sweat more it makes your head really ichy and when your ich, you scrape off chunks of your psoriasis and it growls back and builds up thicker which only makes you ich more. I haven't really noticed it getting worse in the winter, though that may just me getting too used to it over the now my psoriasis is ichy after explaining it.

I was taught to never remove the scaling like that! I use baby oil and gently massage the crust/scaling until bits come off. Then wash with a regular shampoo, and then with a medical shampoo to relieve and heal the scalp.
I know it's very satisfying to remove that crust, but it can lead to the scalp becomming irritated, causing psoriasis to act up even more! You're also risking bleeding or oozing of tissue fluid/lymph fluid, causing even more crusts or scaling.
Be kind to yourself ❤

I shaved my head because of the psoriasis and my head got sunburned and it killed the psoriasis. I was lucky it happened because It was bad

After seeing this I will never complain about my scalp ever again.

as someone with both psoriasis and dermatillomania i wouldn't be able to leave it alone until it came in that thick but if i could this would be the biggest dopamine rush in the world to see it come off in a massive plate like that

My daughter has this. She’s never had flakes that big. She does have prescription shampoo and topical medication for her scalp, which helps a lot

The problem is when u have Psoriasis u have an over-active immune system. So if u pick off the skin or pick at the skin, the skin multiplies and it will be scaled over again and red the next day. I started Cosentyx script from my Dermatologist for Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis and after 2 injections my psoriasis was 100% gone. Prior to that my scalp was about 70% covered with plaques, as well as my elbows and knees.

I started dating my husband bc he has juvenile ichthyosis and I'm a compulsive skin picker. We vaguely knew each other through mutuals at school, but he wasn't on my radar until I saw him flaky. He was bathed in light like in the movies too so you could really see he needed a picking. 😅

That to say, you never know. A fresh patch of psoriasis ready for harvest could become 15 years, 4 kids, and a best friend.

(If anyone else is dealing with juvenile ichthyosis, Eucerin Intensive Repair lotion has worked really well).

Ok so who has this woman’s channel? Very satisfying although I feel terrible for her. The itching and stinging must be immense 😔

Funny thing about having psoriasis: normal ppl don't care, but dermatologists will make it seem like you're a monster (ppl think my psoriasis is allergies and are preoccupied with my health. Once I explain to them that I'm ok, they really dont give a shit. But i had doctors saying that "ppl would take one look at me and get out of the pool" or that im like a "post tornado house" because of my acne + psoriasis, that im all dirty and have to choose where to start cleaning)

For a second, I thought the entire clump of hair was about to come out with it.

i thankfully don't have any issues that bad, but I've always had dandruff quite badly my whole life and my god do i want that tool. There are days i just want to take a razor and skim my whole scalp if i could just not take the hair too

How about telling people that removing it in this way only causes it to get worse and can lead to hair loss?

I use a special shampoo because if I did what the girl in the video did my scalp would start bleeding

I have had scalp psoriasis for over 10 years and I also have struggled with psoriasis on my body. What helped me clear up the psoriasis on my body was actually surprisingly tanning and using red light therapy. It is difficult to use as a treatment for my scalp though since I have hair so light can’t get through.

I get that just in my beard from seborrheic dermatitis. If the skin gets really red and itchy and I'm lazy and don't treat it for a few days then treat it with mometasone lotion, this happens. It's so fucking satisfying!

Try Malibu C Crystal Gel XL. I've seen it work on psoriasis before. You'll have to find a salon that offers it as a service.

I use to watch a channel that had a young lady with this same situation. For some reason I did like watching her clear her hair of this. Then she switched so now you pay to watch. What a bummer!
