Royalty 101: Current Monarchies of the World

Today of the 195 sovereign nations in the world, 44, 23% still have a monarch as head of state. Today we will be learning the various titles held by these monarchs Emperor, King, Sultan, etc.) and some interesting records like which monarchies are oldest and which monarchs are the richest. And then I will briefly introduce each of the modern monarchies including what type they are (Constitutional, mixed, federal or absolute) their origins, who occupies the throne now and who is next in line.

Malaysia is also a constitutional monarchy, we have nine kings for 9 of the 13 states, every 5 years the paramount king or Yang diPertuan Agong is chosen among the conference of rulers, the other 4 states have governors like America but their roles are purely ceremonial, the Agong is technically the "king" of the 4 states

Funny thing is that Liechtenstein and Monaco have monarchs ruling over them despite them being really small compared to cities in Europe

The United Kingdom was not (technically) formed until 1707, when Queen Anne, who was queen of England, Scotland, and Ireland united both countries.

As Indonesian I just want to tell you that the monarchy in Indonesia is only found in one province and not in all of Indonesia so if there is a map that describes all of Indonesia as a monarchy it is very wrong

although being African, I’ve never really learned anything about African monarchies bc we only hear about European monarchies (mostly the UK). this video was very interesting and it taught me so much more than what I learned in my history classes in school. I would to learn more about the lesser known monarchies. anyways, keep up the good work!
