Batteries are consumable parts, they WILL need replacing at some point during the lifespan of the laptop. I know I've done battery replacements on many Windows laptops so that they can be used away from a wall outlet.
Pairing the battery to the motherboard is a big no-no.

M1 silicon is from 2020. The M1 Pro and Ultra are from 2021

Apple laptop is easy to assemble and disassemble for manufacturing and logistics reasons, but in terms of repairability it is a nightmare, it is still a scam

I think it's reasonable that you should put the laptop on the edge of a table, seeing as the trackpad is made from glass and could scratch the screen if the laptop is closed. Apple doesn't like putting things like webcam covers between your screen and keyboard/palm rest so it makes sense

I don’t ever intend to break my laptop and therefore repairability is not a concern. I’m more concerned about not losing performance when unplugging, having the best display, etc, etc
