Coverage not mentioned. Stacked and Non-stacked uninsured motorist. If you have 2 or more cars you can stack the UM/UIM coverage for an additional cost. Essentially what that does is in the event you are hit by an uninsured/under-insured motorist if you stack it you get double the coverage. IE: UM 25,000/50,000 stacked. If you are hit by an uninsured motorist you can take an additional 25,000/50,000 from your other car so you are covered up to 50,000/100,000.

----------------------------------------------------
State Min: PIP and PD is only required for basic insurance
Most common state Min: BI 10,000/20,000 PD 10,000

More common coverage (still low):
BI limits: 25,000/50,000 PD 25,000
UM/UIM 25,000/50,000 Comprehensive and Collision or UMPD

Most common Home owners buy for Auto:
BI limits: 100,000/300,000 PD: 100,000
UM/UIM: 100,000/300,000

Limits I currently carry (I'm not in FL)
250,000/500,000 PD 100,000 UM/UIM 250,000/500,000 Comprehensive minus 250 deductible and Collision minus 500 deductible.

BI = Bodily Injury PD = Property Damage
UM = Uninsured Motorist UIM = Under-insured motorist (UMBI/UIMBI = Uninsured/Under Motorist Bodily Injury)
PIP = Personal Injury Protection
Comprehensive = Other than collision
Collision = Coverage for your auto's ACV (Actual Cash Value) minus your deductible

Those call 411 after 911 companies are definitely driving up insurance for everyone in the Miami metropolitan area

I do not wish to be in a car accident, but if I am unfortunate enough to be evolved in one, I wish and pray to God you are the person who hits me, not matter what! I bet you have good coverage!

Hi Mark I do have to say that I love your videos very easy to understand thank you so much. I'm new in Florida I've been here for 4 years from Boston Massachusetts and I'm also a new driver and I'm ready to buy myself a new car your videos has educated me in regards to insurance here in the state of Florida. Now I'm asking if there is any chance you could create a video that would give me a step-by-step understanding on how to read my policy statement. And also show what the policy looks like and what should we be looking for. If you do this I'll be totally grateful.

Hey! Love the video, I’m living in florida
Studying to get my 20-44 independent lines license!
I was wondering If you could do a video or have a video on tips for taking the exam, ways you’ve used to study, certain terms/ things to pay attention to that you think could help.

The state of Florida keeps the auto insurance high so that less people would get covered. The less people in the state are covered, the more expensive they can keep it because the Florida politicians get kickbacks.

If I move to Florida does the vehicle I'm bringing to Florida required that the inspection is good in the state I'm bringing it from?

Very informative video! Thanks for sharing. If someone were to get hit and injured by an uninsured motorist, you, of course, would be covered if you have UM coverage. If sounds like PIP wouldn't come into play here, though. Is that correct? I'm just trying to understand exactly when PIP does comes into it any other accident NOT connected to a UM incident?

Thank you! Very good video. I just still have one question though: if Florida is a no fault state (for personal injury), why would you need bodily injury, since technically it should be the other person's insurance who takes care of it? Thank you!!

Here's something that I'm curious about and maybe you could help me with. What about if I have all this good coverage here in Florida and I take a road trip to Connecticut and I got into an accident that wasn't my fault will my Florida insurance cover me even though my accident was at another state?

My sister-in-law lives in Tampa and she says Florida has "No Fault" car insurance. She claims that if you get into an accident, and it's NOT your fault, and there is damage to YOUR car, then YOU are responsible for the cost of repairs. In my mind, why bother having insurance if I need to cover the cost of damages that someone else caused??

Can you please explain how the "No Fault" works even if you have an extended coverage policy (UM / IUM / BI / PD / PIP)?

Thanks

I have a question about right timing for switching out of state insurance to new state. I moved to FL from NY and about to go to DMV in a few days to get my FL DL and FL plates, registration...etc. I just read somewhere that i need to bring the proof of FL insurance. Currently i have a Geico with NY state. When do i make a change? The same day? or 1 hour before my DMV appointment? or when I arrive to DMV? I know i can do it online, just want to make sure i am covered if something happen lets say on my way to DMV or if they send me back cause i am missing some docs and then i ll be stuck with FL insurance while still having NY DL....

I am not clear on how PIP and UM/UIM interact... is PIP always going to be stacked on top of limits for a situation in which UM/UIM applies? (or vice versa, whichever might kick in first) i'm considering UM/UIM and the stacked min cost is the same as 10, 000 of medical pay, and i am unsure how they compare as options
might this be different in different states?
