4 Week Old Baby Development

4 Week Old Baby Milestones 👶
News Flash: Babies Cry
What happened to your sleepy newborn? He’s growing up, mama! As a result, you may notice baby becoming more fussy, agitated, and moody (welcome to the human race!).

Crying can be a result of being hungry, tired, wet, or even bored. Try rocking, feeding, swaddling, babywearing, or singing songs to your little one. Be on the lookout for signs of colic, as this can cause extreme fussiness in newborns. But do know that sometimes babies just need to cry and be held. It will pass.

Baby Acne
Around this time, you may start to notice pimples and whiteheads popping up on baby’s face. Don't worry—this very common skin condition affects more than 30 percent of newborns. Although it should clear on its own in a matter of months, you can try these natural remedies for baby acne to help speed things along.

Baby Grasp
In more exciting news, you may start to see some big changes in physical development now. Baby is working hard on figuring out her hands, fingers, arms, and legs. At this point, baby may grasp your finger or other objects for a brief period of time. Her muscles are growing stronger and stronger every day!

You at 4 Weeks postpartum 👩
You’re probably noticing the lack of sleep is starting to catch up to you. Don’t worry, mama. Things will settle down soon. In the meantime, try these strategies to get your newborn to sleep.

Some families find co-sleeping is an easier way to manage baby throughout the night. While it may not be for everyone, here are some thoughts on why some families choose to co-sleep, and whether it’s safe.

Swaddling your little one can also help baby sleep in longer stretches. Swaddling gives baby a sense of comfort, and reduces the involuntary movements of the arms and legs that sometimes can startle her awake.

With all of the excitement of becoming a new mama, the lack of sleep can definitely takes its toll. Stick with it mama, trust your instincts, and know that more sleep will come in the future!

I first found your channel with my first pregnancy almost 8.5 years ago & now I’m rewatching all of them with my third baby who was born 3 weeks ago! ❤️

The Moment I gave birth, I felt the whole focus was on the baby not on the mum. The way how the nurses in the hospital forced me to breast feed after my 20 hour Labour felt like a hostage

I was surprised when my baby’s ped didn’t ask about my health! Thankfully my midwife will continue our care to 6 weeks, she makes sure we are both doing okay. Even my IBCLC made sure we had a plan to optimize and protect my mental health: “lactation is more than latch”
I agree that it’s a misstep for peds not to ask about postpartum maternal health :/

I have an 8 week old (age adjusted 4 weeks). I actually feel great! This is my 3rd, though. 2nd baby, I had a really hard time.

It is hard because around 9 pm, I want to go to bed, but she has a hard time falling asleep at that time. Once she's aslee, she is good!
