Old Volvos are basically the Nokia 3310 of cars.

The world record for car with highest mileage is held by a Volvo

There was a guy at my work that had an old Volvo, went like 500, 000 miles with no issues. Bragged about it to everyone, how smart he was to have such a reliable car brand. So he went out and got a new one. Nothing but trouble after trouble. Boy was his disillusioned genius.

Great story Scotty. My first car was a 1981 Volvo 264 GL. An older gentleman ran me off the road and I ran dead on into a concrete road medium at 45 MPH with no seat belt. I tried to start the car but it wouldn't start. Had it towed to the mechanic and he said I'd completely ripped the engine off the motor mounts and back into the firewall. Not a scratch on me. Owned nothing but Volvo's for the last 45 years of my life. A few with over 500K miles on them.

Bought a used 2007 XC90 Diesel here in Europe. Now 230000 km and purring away. Absolutely love the car. Easy to maintain, well-engineered and practical. Stupid emission laws in my city will forbid me from using it next year. They’d rather I throw this fine automobile away and buy a new one. But I’ve decided to pay the fines and keep using my car.

40 year old Volvo technician. Work on anything German or Swedish. Volvo is the best car ever built. Especially the B230F 4 cylinder and the 5 cylinder’s. The cams stay in a bath of oil. The European’s refine the metals so much better than we do.

Those old Volvo 850 and then the remodelled V70s were very well made. Even the turbo charged 5 cylinder petrol engines hold-up really well. The British police used to use them a lot - so there's an endorsement for their build quality.

I've been driving a V50 Volvo Wagon (2007) for 2 years now and love it!! It's solid as a rock, no issues, just keeps going down the road - looks and feels great too. Not bad for under $3, 000 price tag.

Old Volvo saved my life when I got T boned on the Driver’s side when someone didn’t see the red light. I was fine, her car crumbled

I drive a 1989 Volvo 740 (Yes, it's a 30 year old car) that is older than me, still runs great, just drove it nearly 250 miles to come to college and it rode like a dream. Little rust and low mileage for it's age - only 158, 000 miles. Sweet car - and I actually like the boxy look, it's old school and reminds me of the old cars my parents had when I was a kid.

Bought an ‘04 V70 two years ago to use as a go to work vehicle for $4k. Very reliable and solid vehicle. Bought a ‘15 XC70 T5 for my wife. Nice vehicle, great mpg. Scotty, glad to hear you like Volvos.

I used to be skeptical about Volvos until I actually bought and drove one. I own a 2002 Volvo S40 with a 1.9 turbo I4 that I bought as a college commuter that I still own today. Its not only extremely comfortable and fuel efficient, but its extremely safe and reliable. Ever since i bought it i haven't had to do any huge maintenance on it. Yeah its definitely not the fastest car on the road, but as a broke college kid that wasn't what I was looking for. Scotty knows what he's talking about, take my word for it.

Owned a 1970 244, stick shift. Bought it used for around $200 back late 1980s. The engine was amazing. Turned and handled amazing, very small turning radius. Perfect torque, could handle hills like nothing else. Heard that 4 cyl engine was the most reliable engine ever created, could last over a million miles. Darn shame I sold it.

The happiest day of my life was when I saw my old V70 leaving for the last time. Of course, my ex-wife was driving it.
