I boil my strings then toss them in spaghetti sauce for a few mins then coat the fretboard in garlic and mozzarella cheese just kidding I'm lactose intolerant so i omit the cheese

Back in the 80s I read EVH boiled his old strings. I started to boil my new strings and felt a world of difference in the feel and the need to stretch the strings was less needed.

Boiling bass strings does actually do smn and makes the strings play like new. I found that on guitar however they do not much.

Riviera paradise is a damn good background song choice. SRV 🤙🏽

Putting cotton wool in the feathers works temporarily. Eventually this gets stuck between the springs and changes the position of the tremolo.

Stuffing your tremolo springs will increase sustain? I’ve heard some snake oil claims but that takes it to another level.

I saw your old man on Fox News a couple days back, still funny and charming as ever.

On my strat I removed the 5 way selector and put in 3 toggle buttons for each pickup. It allows me to have 7 pickup combinations. I also put les paul humbuckers on the neck/bridge, made one tone knob the master tone, and added a killswitch. Not sure if I can even call it a strat anymore tbh

1) The Raw Vintage Advantage. A must.
2) No load tone pot for 7 position blender wiring.
3) Low friction high quality volume pot for pinky volume swells.
4) Wudtone 2.5 mm SS bridge plate & the larger screws, since we’re into it now.
5) Wudtone CP Vintage bridge plate, shim & SS screws.
6) Highwood Contoured Saddles.
7) Callahan block & Arm.
8) Music City Bridge triple tree string tree.
9) Pure Tone 1/4” jack. (gold)
10) Fender Original 57-62’ Pickups.
11) Extra Slinky’s 8-38
12) Wiring the tone control to N & B pickups (M bypassed) This enables running the M pickup lower than N & B while still maintaining consistent volume across 5 way.

Argh! Those springs are part of what gives a Strat its tone! It’s like having a spring reverb on board your guitar!

I thought only bass players boil their strings-

Nice. I always preferred hardtail’s though …….one less thing to worry about and better sound.

If youre gonna change and stuff the springs go ahead and get a full size block. I dont know if materials really change tone but the bigger size i thiught definitely helped sustain

Never been a big fan of treble bleed. Great video and playing.

With new strings You’re just boiling the coating off and they get dirty quicker. But I guess it’s all subjective and placebo

I love what you did bro, the boiling of the strings, the additional capacitor and resistor for more bleed andalso that vintage 5-way switch that they no longer make tbh!

Keep doing a good job dude, also be mindful of the quality of sound. it sounded a bit distorted, I'm not sure if that was the setting or the natural feed from the guitar, but always listen carefully for those things in your playback.

Enjoy yourself dude, I'm looking forward to more things you plan to do with your guitar :)

If you're worried about increasing the sustain the 1st thing i would do is is change that crappy little zinc block on the trem. THEN i would get the cotton balls ready 😂
