A 3070 with 16 GB of Vram would be a beast

The RX 580 is a hero & heros never die

I remember the days where 2GB was considered good and 4GB was just an overkill

You skipped the most important part. It's keeping electronics out of eWaste and in circulation and puts pressure on the Big Three (Intel/ AMD/ Nvidia) to make more economical hardware.

The 30 series with 16-20GB of vram would be killer

The 580 is a monster of a card it just won't die! If they made a 590 with 16gb, I would definitely buy it!

they should do it for the 3070s not a fricking rx580

GPU is the engine, VRAM is the fuel tank, bigger fuel tank help it to go further but only as fast as the engine can go

Nice that would be so helpful for budget home cinema settups!

They did a test on this card. It actually used the extra vram and it was worth the extra $30

It's also great for games that are CPU intensive but still need a lot of VRAM. I have an old 1060 3GB sitting on the shelf, but if it was the same card with 8GB of VRAM, my friend could definitely use it.

Absolutely buy all the repurposed mining cards. Who cares? Mining doesn't hurt the GPU any more than gaming (or god forbid, Blender renders).

Absolutely lowball the miners tho. Gouge the hell out of them. Offer them $200 for 3080's - many are so desperate that they can't turn down that cold hard cash _today._

Im just out here wishing the 3060 laptop gpu had 8gb instead of 6

Toasty Bros made a video with a an rx 580 16gb, it didn't do much even with 4k. Although with fsr on it you can crank more fps from 4k on demanding titles some are still below 30fps unfortunately

Would be FANTASTIC for running local models.

No. 95% of GPUs will run out of core headroom before VRAM makes any difference. A few cards that are outliers may be the 1060 3GB and the R9 Fury X

vram is there to store texture data.

my rx 550 can in theory run rdr2 on lowest settings, but the 2GB vram forces it to constantly swap low res textures with compressed mush.

which does decrease the performance even further, as it got no chance to cache with that low vram.

The thing is that VRAM (especially older stuff like GDDR5) is not that expensive. 8 GB of VRAM for the 580 costs like what? 20 bucks?

With the right tools and the ability to solder it is cheaper to upgrade the VRAM oneself than to pay the insane markup.

If there is a BIOS that supports more VRAM, it should be possible on many cards. Some even have empty solder points for more chips.

Repuroised mining cards are underrated, their performance is 98% as good as a brand new one

They need to make 6600 with 16 gigs those would sell like hot bread.
