Nvidia GPU's VRAM Scam Exposed!

Have you ever wondered why Nvidia GPUs cost a lot more than their competition, yet offer less VRAM? Intel ARC A770 GPU comes with 16 GB of Video RAM while the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT comes with 12 GB VRAM. Both these GPUs cost around $350. So why the hell is Nvidia planning to sell new GPUs in 2023 that will cost a lot more than $350, and yet offer a puny 8 GB of VRAM? So, what is the real reason behind Nvidia not offering more RAM in their mid-tier GPUs? Is it because the video RAM is too expensive? Well, actually No. In fact, video RAM is very cheap these days. Especially GDDR6 video RAM, which is the type of memory that Nvidia uses in their mid-tier GPUs.

You see, the price of GDDR6 video RAM was high during the pandemic induced shortage. But those days are long gone. In the year 2023, the bulk price of video RAM is very low. For example, if you look at the bulk price of GDDR6 video RAM on digikey, you will see that 16GB of GDDR6 video RAM from micron costs anywhere from $19.41 to $33.41. So that literally comes out to $2 per GB of GDDR6 video RAM. That’s peanuts.

And remember that Nvidia is a huge corporation, so I’m sure they are able to negotiate even better memory prices from vendors. So clearly it’s not the price of the video RAM that is keeping Nvidia from offering more RAM in their video cards. It will literally cost them 20 to 30 dollars more to bump up the video RAM from 8GB to 16GB. That’s nothing compared to the hundreds of dollars they charge for their GPUs.

After all, if Intel can offer 16GB of GDDR6 in their Arc A770 GPU, there is no excuse for Nvidia to not do that. Intel is a newcomer in the GPU market, and they are already offering more value for money than Nvidia. Intel is not afraid to challenge Nvidia and give consumers what they want: more video RAM for better gaming performance.

That's why I'm happy Intel Arc is making their place in GPU market

It's not that they lose money, but rather lose out on potentiality more money.

if amd offered gpus which can do gaming/video editing, streaming, not only gaming, then nvidia would be bankrupt by now

Nvidia doesn't care about gamers they care about making profit and one thing Nvidia thinks that we are all rich 😢there are budget poor gamers that's why I stick to AMD and Intel

Simply put, if they make "enough" there's a very low incentive for you to even upgrade next gen. Like with AMD cards. They would have to constantly 1up in Chip design and that's costly. They don't want us getting used to better every Gen in every Way.

I bought 3060 12 gb and it helped me to run the last of us which was comsuming 11 gb vram at release

The whole premise of this video is wrong. If Nvidia was the ONLY option on the market then this might work. Seeing as we have AMD and now Intel in the segment Nvidia would literally be pushing people away from their brand. Effectively giving up market share and killing their sales. The whole 8gb if ram isnt enough is a flawed argument. You're testing these cards with games that were in development well before the 40 series was released. Some of them are just poorly ported from rhe console version of the game. Nvidia doesn't develop these cards is a vacuum. They are working with engine and game developers while designing the new hardware. Technology like DLSS is the direction the industry is moving. As that technology improves the need for rendering massive frames will diminish. The writing has been in the wall for a couple of generations now. You can't just keep making higher power GPUs with more ram. Its gotten too the point where the GPU literally draws more power than the rest of the system combined. That is not a sustainable trend.

For 1080p 8gb is enough but for 1440p and above it's not

I think this is one of the reasons EVGA left Nvidia, because they don't want to sell garbage cards

Good thing that amd and intel is offering competition. Also a few otber thi gs i would like to state, a guy soldered on more vram to a 4070, so if that is possible, there gould be a fix to this problem. As computer repair shops could offer vram increases for a more reqsonable price

Personally, I don't think you need more than 8GB of VRAM for any 1080p game and that is where these cards are aimed at.
I personally run a 5700xt (8GB) at 1440p and I have to max out every slider on most games to hit the 8GB limit.

Also AMD usually has more VRAM at higher memory bandwidths.

As someone who upgraded from laptop gtx 940mx,
I'm happy with my pc rtx 4060.
+ There are so many game series that i still haven't completed. Like i couldn't play after farcry 4 or AC rogue. I don't skip games.

They dont want ai clients using cheaper consumer cards in mass qtys. Also it helps upsell their 16 gb cards.

Almost all new games run fine with 8gb.

Just don't crank up the settings so high because it looks very much the same as anyways on medium to high and uses way less vram anyways. A Plague Tale: Requiem looks next level on Medium that you would think it's on ultra and only uses 4 to 6gb

The real answer is because people keep blindly buying nvidia GPUs. I would sooner game on integrated graphics before I buy a scamforce RTrashX anything.
