Imagine if you could swap out VRAM as easily as system RAM. You wouldn't be forced to buy a new GPU every 2 years just to play remakes of games from 10 years ago.

Nivida did not raise the Vram on their mid tier for SIX YEARS!! The 3070 ought to have had 12Gb.

So what your saying is Nvidia could have done this but they completely overlooked the VRAM usage and cannot backtrack now they are soon releasing the mid range 40s. Still stupidly overpriced im guessing.

GTX 1080 TI 11GB VRAM ($699) and 6 years later RTX 4070 TI 12GB VRAM ($799). I'm going with AMD on my next GPU. PlayStation5 16GB VRAM entire DE console $399.

That's why I bought an RTX 3060 with 12 GB of VRAM.
YES, YES, YES... VRAM does not directly mean FPS when the game does not need so much VRAM.... BUT:
It does the job when I am studying deep learning code samples (professional use case) AND I can game on it.

Im sorry, but vram is cheap today. There is no reason in the world that gamers should be subjected to this archaic committee decided policy that 8 gb is enough. Its a bs arguement that did not foresee the rise of 4k monitors becoming the norm or the development of ray tracing and its impacts on memory allocation. You go back and find a Radeon VII card with 16 gb from 5 years ago and put it up against any of these 8 gig cards and it will not only outperform them but it will look a hell of a lot better as well.

Think they're now missing a different audience because of it. I am not a gamer and was on verge of buying a 3080 but discovered that for the AI applications that I wanna run the 12gb 3060 is far better.

This is the only reason i switched to AMD.. i had a choice of RTX 3060 ti 8gb or Radeon 6700xt 12gb. I wanted the more ram to better future proof my card.
