A Moka Pot guide for making coffee with espresso-like flavor at home. Perfect for lattes and espresso-based drinks.

Video features a 1-cup moka pot (single-serving) by Bialetti, but instructions are basically the same no matter what brand you use. Larger units take a bit longer to heat up. Pre-boiled water can be used to speed things up.

Music: "Carefree" by Kevin MacLeod.

It was especially helpful that you show what goes on when the heat is too high, and then what it should look like. Thanks! Excellent video.

kinda random but I actually like how you didn't edit out a few parts, gives the video a little personality

A coffee video without the arrogance and aggression! Thank you.

This is probably the super extra proper way of doing it but, actually, most people I know here in Italy don't bother at all with stopping the brewing and instead leave the pot on the stove until the level of coffee inside reach the fountain-thingy in the middle.
When that happens the pot starts making gurgling noises that signal you the coffee is ready (we say "sta salendo il caffè" AKA "the coffee is rising").
That way you can put the pot on the stove and do other things without having to watch it constantly.

Very helpful, without making me listen to anyone chat on forever before telling me how to make the coffee!

Thank you for being informative without an autobiography or fifteen minutes of unrelated chatting.

I will just like to say how much I LOVE your videos. Straight to the point, methodical, includes a bit of light humour and mistakes. No extra fluff, or 10 minute intro with personal unnecessary anecdotes. Thank You so very much.

Just got a mokapot for Christmas as I wanted a personal percolator .This fits the bill thoroughly 👌 and now I can make espresso without digging out the full sized one

Two more tips: put a little water in the upper part of the bialetti, so the first drop won't burn. After it's finished stir it so the particles mix

You gave all the information for the better use.Very nice.
Remember that a cup o moka coffee has about twice the caffeine of an espresso, even if it doesn't seem to be by its flavor.

Just know that your video is still helping people 6 yrs later! I bought my pot in Italy a few weeks ago and had to leave the paper instructions bc of traveling and this really helped!

I found one of these at Goodwill...looked brand new and I didn't know how to properly use it until this video. THANK YOU😊

In my experience, you must develop a 'recipe' and technique for each brand of coffee you use in a moka pot. If the coffee is too strong, grind it larger. Too weak, grind it smaller. Once you get a particular coffee dialed in, you can make a very good cup of coffee that has that 'pop', when you drink it (I don't know the proper name for it, but you'll NEVER experience this perfection, buying a cup of coffee from some chain.)

Thank you for the video! I've only ever used moka pots to make Cuban coffee. My brother-in-law's mother is Cuban and she was the one who introduced me to noka pots for the first time and we've always used Café Bustelo or other Cuban espresso-ground coffee. I've never seen someone make coffee with regular coffee made for drip brew. Interesting! I love my moka pot, a good cafécito makes me feel like I can take on the world.
