Unfortunately many pretty dresses are now made with very small, hidden zippers that have NO EYELET through which to thread a paper-clip, safety pin or anything else! Mission impossible to zip them up by yourself? But I love that dress!

I tried a blanket pin (much sturdier metal) and that failed just like a nappy pin - in that the needle separated off it cradle and the end of the zip pull also broke, both simultaneously. Then I tried the paper clip ( I had a large sized one) and used curling ribbon, it worked a treat. To remove the paper clip just push or pull it through as both ends are open, so it doesn't matter which direction you try to remove it. Also the zip was stiff with it being a new dress so a few un/zips before trying this would be benefit. And the top corner was tucked under so the zip would not pull out the undertuck - of course I didn't know this until I looked in the mirror to see why it wouldn't. I'm sure the next time will go much smoother!
