Right after I got home after my amputation, the first time I went out, I saw this guy on a motorcycle. He stopped at a red light, and when he put his leg down he had a prosthetic on his left leg. It really inspired me.

This is so cool! I hadn't considered that pedal assistance could be needed with a prosthetic. Also, it's so neat how there are all these differently designed limbs for different purposes, just sucks that you have to spend so much to have any sort of range in hobbies/activities as an amputee.

As a long-time cyclist, I think the eBike is a great tool for getting people into biking as well as getting people back on the bike.

"It's also really uncomfortable on my prosthetic butt" got me laughing. I had no idea prosthetic butts were even a thing! 🤣

I love my radwagon, I got over 2 thousand miles of hard commuting and it still looks brand new and runs like the day I bought it

Question, could the biking leg work as an everyday leg?

I lost it when you were tying up your laces on the prosthetic leg standing up on its own :) thanks for showing how it is like, I applaud your energy <3

Just watched your video from a while back on "disturbing content." I'm commenting here because it's more likely to be seen.
I suspect the algorithm recommended you because 2 years ago my own leg got smashed to pieces, and was recommended for amputation below the knee.
I was fortunate in that I persuaded my doctors to try me with the Lazarov Frame, which they agreed to, with the proviso being that at the first signs of infection, they'd amputate.
There was a period of a few months where it may have gone either way. It went my way.
Watching your content gave me a lifeline for in case things hadn't gone well for me. I couldn't picture my life "after" if I had lost my leg. I've always been active, in many spheres. Reckless even, and the idea of being "crippled" terrified me.
Watching your content made me realize that losing my leg, wouldn't necessarily have made me a cripple, unless I let it. Unless I became one in my head.
I have largely recovered fully. I have some nerve damage, but the Lazarov Frame allowed me to be active, immediately after surgery.
I walked on my leg, assisted by crutches, a day after surgery and I credit the mobility of that frame, and your own mental resilience and positivity, for my own recovery.
My injury was the result of attempted murder, and I sustained extensive other injuries too, as well as substantial trauma.
Psychologically I was in a dark place but watching you made me feel like a pussy.
You coped with worse than me, undaunted and with optimism and good cheer. I felt obligated to man up.
Thanks for creating your channel and content. It has value. It made a difference to me, and I appreciate it.
You're doing good. Don't stop, ever.

Thank you for answering this question. I had been wondering how bike riding was possible for you. My husband was unable to ride a bike after amputation which was a huge disappointment for him and me. He was unaware of the option that allows you to continue to enjoy that activity. He did have 2 legs though. The second one allowed more ankle motion and rotation.

Heck yeah! I've seen some amputees on big events doing great. Saw a leg amputee using an arm powered recumbent hand-cycle on a 20mi race, and man he was one of the only cyclists with THICK arms. Dude was incredible. And another leg amputee with a prosthetic like yours on a 100mi ride, manual bike, in the mountains - he'd decked out his prosthetic in HOT PINK SPARKLES! It was glorious and shiny. Doubled as high-vis gear! Those fellas were rad.

Glad you are back to biking and feeling good with it!

What an amazing contribution you're giving to those starting their new condition of amputees.

I can absolutely see the stress & anxiety an amputee would experience with this. So cool you posted and content partnered about it!. Always knew you had a blade for your running activity....but now the 🚲 bike ride is once again a great day out in the sunshine!!

I'm not an amputee, but I have 2 chronic joint arthritis conditions and a pain condition. Also I was never a fast cyclist, always last but I loved seeing all the things and going far. Getting back into it in my mid fifties, my e-bike is the answer to my prayers and I find myself challenging myself more with it, confident in the assistance. ❤ They are a God send, and I'm glad you benefit too! ❤️😊

Great timing Jo! I literally just went an ordered an ebike today as I can't keep up with the cost of fuel but I live up a hella steep hill. I got a step through style bike too, much easier that having to hoist a leg all the way up and over

Being able to cycle again was a huge thing for me. It kinda gave me my freedom back. Do you have a similar feeling?

This really shows how important it is for surgeons to plan with their patient to preserve the knee joint when amputation is needed if possible. Also, if the knee joint isn’t preservable, a rotationplastic is often possible, where part of the lower limb with the ankle joint is rotated and reattached to the femur/thigh to act functionally as a knee replacement.

You really are such a positive person! Keep up the great content! This helps a lot of people who are in despair about their amputation. I can tell as a doctor.
