My coworker is such an xbox fanboy that he thinks that pc gaming is a dying medium. Like he thinks all gaming companies will slowly realize that pc sucks or something and refuse to develop or port games to pc ever again, including small indie devs. No idea where he gets this reasoning from

2:58 XBOX, Playstation, and Nintendo Switch even make you pay for multiplayer functionality on games they didn't publish, develop, or own. Guess who runs the servers for the games? The publishers, game studios, or the owners. So they're just charging people to make profit off of other people's servers without using the money to pay the server owners to help maintain their servers.

Xbox feels like it took the worst parts of console and the worst parts of PC, and smashed them together. It's like a walled garden without the garden at this point lol

And the thing is, it's 100% on them for putting themselves in this situation. For as much as exclusives are bad for the industry, Xbox is a huge devils advocate for the concept. Microsoft is just sitting on so many IPs and doing _nothing_ with them. Or worse, being as cheap as possible and pumping out garbage to _pretend_ they're not just uselessly sitting on IPs. And then, with that, they decided to make a subscription service that not only bleeds money, but doesn't even require you to use their platform for it.

It's got me so conflicted, because them fucking up here is objectively good for the industry. In the short term, it's shit, it means a lot of layoffs and trouble for devs. But in the long run, this was a huge failure for Microrsoft, and it scares other companies off of pulling the same shady shit.

But it's also infuriating that it's only as bad as it is because they don't know how to throw around the weight they have. They're scummy, but not even in a way that benefits the company. We saw a ton of good studios just get flushed down the toilet for _literally nothing._ Not even some shady ass company's personal gain, just used as a ripcord for their parachute.

I've hated Xbox ever since they made the decision to require Game Pass for Final Fantasy XIV, a SUBSCRIPTION-based MMO. Effectively meaning that Xbox players have to pay double to play a game.

Even before that, I've told people that Phil Spencer isn't your friend, he's a snake who pretends to have the interests of players in mind. Microsoft and Sony both suck, its just that Microsoft hid their true colors so well that people viewed them as the lesser evil.

Everyday, it becomes more desirable to own a PC. I can mod my games AND not have to pay a subscription for a basic feature in a game

We need to go back to old school, honest business. The publisher publishes a game, and those interested purchase the game. It makes the company more money, and it makes the consumer happier as they own a copy of the game, rather it being whisked away at any time. I'm tired of subscriptions. I don't own an Xbox or anything, but this negatively impacts the whole industry.

to be honest, a price hike is normal, but a continuous price hike is a big no no, basically means they suck, and look at Arizona ice tea, they never had a price hike because they own everything, they don't have shareholders, and with everything, they yet to increase the price by 1 cent, because they use all there money on what works, like we don't want extreme poly models, we want and actual game, red dead 2 is fun but shees they made so many unnecessary stuff that make the price go extremely up, even indie games that have mid quality on the models sell like hot cakes while COD was going with 10 times the detail... and everyone is like, on the story and gameplay?.... *dev team looking at 4GB model they made*
