A long response on why we shouldn’t speculate about details, even if turns out our speculation may be correct. Let me first say Steve is in sin and needs to repent, I make no excuses for what he did.

Christianity teaches that God is sovereign and that His plans are ultimately beyond human understanding. Speculating about unknown details can signify a lack of faith in God’s wisdom and timing. Trusting in God’s providence means accepting that some matters are best left in His hands, promoting a deeper reliance on His guidance rather than our own interpretations.

Speculation can lead to division within the church and among believers. When individuals begin to theorize about motives, intentions, or future events without clear evidence, it can foster distrust and disagreement. This fragmentation can hinder the unity that is central to Christian teaching, as believers are called to be of one mind and spirit (Philippians 1:27).

Speculative discussions can easily spiral into misinformation, muddying the waters of truth. In a world already rife with confusion, Christians are called to uphold truth and clarity. Engaging in speculation can contribute to a culture of misunderstanding rather than promoting the clarity that comes from the Word of God.

Christians are called to act ethically and responsibly in their words and actions. Speculating about UNKOWN details often leads to gossip or harmful narratives that can hurt individuals or communities. The biblical principle of loving one’s neighbor compels believers to be cautious with their words, ensuring they do not cause unnecessary harm.

Speculation can distract from the core message of the Gospel and the mission of the church. Christians are called to engage in acts of service, love, and evangelism. When attention is diverted to speculative matters, the focus shifts away from the essential work of discipleship and community building, ultimately detracting from the church’s purpose. Rather we should deal with what is known and not what we think happened based on what other pastors have done or did.

The Bible encourages believers to exercise discernment (Philippians 1:9-10). Speculation often bypasses this careful consideration, relying instead on assumptions or personal interpretations. Christians are called to seek wisdom and understanding through prayer and scripture, rather than engaging in unfounded conjecture.

My heart is so saddened. I love Steve Lawson's preaching so much. This is an extremely humble reminder that the sinful desires of the flesh are powerful, but we must recognize that our Savior Christ Jesus is more powerful.

We must put to death the desires of the flesh. Even the men who seem the most sanctified are still just sinner's who are saved by grace. Sexual sin is no joke and even the best men of God are constantly tempted by it, and fall into it.

My heart is hurting for all involved in this. This doesn’t mean God is not done with him. In God’s sovereignty, all things work to His glory. Lawson apparently fell, but this wasn’t a surprise to God. His ways are much higher than ours.
