It's always tragic when someone passes away in their 20's.

When he said "by the time he was 8 years old. He was taller than his father"
I was so surprised

22 is so incredibly young. His life should have just been starting to blossom. And I’m sure being that tall led to horrible joint pain. Poor kid. :(

If anyone wonders his full name was Robert Pershing Wadlow and he was 2, 72m or 8'11

I read up on him in a Guinness world records book, specifically the 2016 world records book, and this is what I got (yes, it’s been 9 years but it still sticks with me today - that’s how I know this). His full name is Robert Pershing Wadlow. He stood 8’ 11” at one point in his 22-year-long life, the current world record for the tallest man ever (the tallest LIVING man is 8’ 2”). When Robert was born, a mutation involving the protein/glucose that controlled his body growth occurred, resulting in him eventually being taller than his dad at only 8 years old.

The tallest man in history was Robert Wadlow, who stood at 8 feet 11.1 inches tall. He was born on Feb. 22, 1918.

Wadlow's height came as a result of pituitary gigantism. By the time he was 5, Wadlow was 5 feet 4 inches tall, Guinness World Records reports. At 8 years old, he was nearly 6 feet tall.

Wadlow also holds the record for the largest feet and the largest hands ever. Wadlow's feet measured 18.5 inches long and his hands were 12.7 inches long from his wrist to the tip of his middle finger.

Wadlow died on July 15, 1940, due to an infection. He was 22 years old.

I always thought that not feeling pain is a good thing, but turned out feeling pain is what helps us to get out of dangerous situations.

It’s pretty amazing to see someone that is 8’11”. But it is tragic that Robert died at age 22.

Simpler explanation: Robert wadlow had a tumor that made him grow ( i think thats what made him tall) he came to a height at 9'11 or something idk, but the metal brace infected his ankle and he passed away in his sleep R.I.P robert

The craziest thing is that people usually stop growing at 25, but robert most likely would have never stopped growing. It was a defective leg brace that cost him his life, and potentially further growth
