The First Images Of The James Webb Explained

The moment has finally arrived: the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is fully deployed, fully operational, fully commissioned and the first images have been released. As of July 12, 2022, it has officially returned its first suite of science data, shedding new light on a series of five targets that showcase the breadth of the observatory’s capabilities. These images of James Webb are the most detailed images ever taken. The images reveal a stellar nursery where stars are born, interactions between galaxies, and a unique view of an exoplanet. These images mark a new era in our understanding of the universe. Let's take a peek at what its golden, segmented eyes observed at long last.

1-) The Deep Field Image of the Universe

When this image was released, it quickly shattered the cosmic record for the deepest view of the Universe ever taken: an incredible achievement.

2-) The Carina Nebula is a star-forming region located in our own Milky Way galaxy. It spans nearly 300 light-years from end-to-end and is home to some of the most massive stars in our galaxy.
3-) Exoplanet wasp-96b

Wasp-96b is an exoplanet that was discovered in 2014. It is a gas giant planet that orbits its parent star, Wasp-96, very tightly: with a period of just 3.4 days.
4-) Stephan’s Quintet

Stephan's Quintet is a group of five galaxies that were discovered in 1877 by Édouard Stephan. It is the first compact group of galaxies to be discovered and is located 290 million light-years away from Earth.

*Some won't appreciate this image or understand that there's been significant improvements with each telescope (that's how progress is made) but the comparison between the two satellites is huge.*

*Also remember it's billions of lightyears away and to even see what we're seeing is quite mind-blowing!!*

Have seen these images several times in last couple days, but will never get tired of them...

A grain of sand held at an arms length… so many galaxies and galaxy clusters in that tiny area, we’re definitely not alone and neither are they. Now only one question remains unanswered

First time I felt 10 Billion dollars was well invested.

I saw it in high resolution. The universe is so stunningly and shockingly beautiful.

I cranked up the contrast and saturation even higher with my phone 😆

My vote: Southern Ring Nebula. Very interesting video. If Albert Einstein had been able to use this tool, there would be no mysteries left in the universe to discover.

now use it to take a clearer pic of that first black hole we ever managed to get a photo of last year!

One of the things that brought the Apollo missions to a halt were the vast numbers of people that complained that all that money was wasted in space when it all have could have been handed to the poor and suffering down here on Earth and that it could be better used buying lottery tickets..

(money out of thin air from the heavens)

The deepest image in the universe and its 7600 Light years away.. that's approximately 7, 600 calendar years if the light will travel from here to there. (I said approximately because I tried to solve it using 300k km/.sec if light will travel)

The “sow-thern” ring nebula? Maybe this misprnouncer is from outer space.

Maybe instead of searching for the origin of life we should look for the origin of water, where did it come from and is it all around us?
