I actually really appreciate that Ethan goes by a single shopping list rather than doing what most channels do and dividing the price into individual amounts of an ingredient. Like sure: I might use half an onion for a recipe, but I’m still paying for the whole onion. I don’t have a big freezer so saving ingredients, especially things like chicken thighs, is tricky, so knowing how much I’m gonna have to spend with basically nothing already in, or without dividing down the recipe cost, is really helpful.

I absolutely love that he takes credit for the full price of items and isn't afraid to admit that he went over budget. He provides a realistic context that makes the food more likely for us to be incentivized to eat healthier. Thank you Ethan!!

I remember when the chicken burrito was $5.35 and they usually gave extra chicken for free.

Getting old hurts.

I appreciate you including the price of the whole item in the price breakdown. Unlike Weismann’s “$0.24 of lettuce” in his ‘but cheaper’ series.
Your way makes more sense and is realistic.

Holy hell, I've been cooking at home so much I never noticed chipotle is now 16 dollars. It used to be 7 dollars for a burrito! Now I know how grandpa feels when he hears current prices...

the worst part is, when working at chipotle we were taught to do 4 oz scoops which had a way better ratio but customers coming in demanding more rice kinda just made every employee conform to giving heaping scoops of rice, even though corporate still said 4 oz of rice

This thought process is true for everything. Not only is making it yourself cheaper, but it’s also healthier and you can control the quality of ingredients and make it exactly how you like it.

So much better than Joshua Weissman's "But Cheaper." I haven't seen anyone go into the actual price of buying the ingredients. Yeah, that one serving of onion cost $0.09 but no one can actually buy a fraction of an onion.

I lived 35 miles from the nearest chipotle so instead on traveling that far I got bought the supplies from a grocery for like $15 and made burritos for a full week

I do enjoy making bowls, they are simple and versatile. I made my own crunch wrap supreme before as well. I'm getting into cooking more because it was not my thing mostly due to my schedules and time frames but it is better to cook yourself for better nutrition

This is probably the most realistic cooking channel where you would actually learn something and attemp the recipes. Not over the top tik tok videos for views. Health and budget conscious
Thank you Ethan

You can sub sour cream for plain greek yogurt, ups the protein and is very similar in taste and texture

I made these today. They were delicious. I went over the calorie count because I ate one then had to eat 1/2 of another one! FYI, I use lowfat plain Greek yogurt instead of creme cheese for the avocado sauce. It was delicious.

Thanks Ethan. I'm diabetic and cutting the carbs is a plus. I love the seasoning mix you came up with for the chicken. The big tortillas are 60 gr. of carbs alone so cutting out the rice is very helpful. The pinto beans are an excellent source of protein also.

Ethan ending a burrito video with "that will wrap it up for me in this one" just seemed fitting

Instead of plopping all that lettuce and then drizzling more guac sauce, try tossing all the lettuce in a big bowl with the sauce to coat it all. Like you would dress a salad. I think it makes the crunch of the lettuce better when you're getting the extra flavor in every bite. Awesome vid, can't wait to try this one. Will def. be using thighs!

Just made this for my friends tonight! They loved it! I really appreciate all the work you put in to breaking down price and nutrition while still having a great recipe. Most of my husband's favorite meals he asks for on repeat are yours lol. Thank you for all your hard work!

Thanks for the inspiration Ethan! My order is a steak burrito bowl with guac and chips to eat it with, costs me $17 at Chipotle. I made homemade guac, homemade chips, spicy chipotle steak, cilantro and lime brown rice, pinto beans, salsa verde, and cheese. Cost me $9 per bowl including the chips. It tasted damn close to the actual thing but in my opinion a better tasting version! That's definitely a win for almost half the price!

Everyone has already complimented you format, and for good reason. While I appreciate the grocery-budget component a lot, I'd like to also thank you for the way you choose to show your sponsor while still showing us the chicken being cooked. Props to you. New sub
