2nd Degree burns on foot - healing time lapse - 2 months

Hey all, this has absolutely nothing to do with what I usually post, but seeing as I had these pictures on my computer with the intention to make a time lapse, I decided to finally make that time lapse.

I burnt my foot with extremely hot cooking oil, and my foot was literally on fire for about a second, and the oil stayed on there until I got to the bathroom sink and doused it in water.

Healing took 2 + months, but the coloration continued to return to normal far after that and still is slowly.

Hopefully this is useful information to anyone curious, or anyone who has burned them selves and want to know what to expect. I replaced bandages and soft gauze morning and evening. The worst part was DEFINITELY taking the damned things off.

Also, I couldn't lower my leg when standing or else shooting spikes of pain would erupt all over my foot. Blood flow + gravity was painful.

that brought tears to my eyes. when I was 15 my shirt got caught on fire leaving me with 3rd degree burns. I am now 23 and have been wondering what the healing of a burn really looked like. watching this was a good and bad idea. it made me realize how strong I really am but made me think back to that time I wish mine would have healed as nicely as yours did. thank you for sharing this video with us. it has helped put some questions to rest.

Id say 100% that's a classic 2nd degree burn....3rd degree is deeper, would never heal that well. BUT even for a 2nd degree burn, that was some great healing.

Thank you for this. I currently have a large 2nd degree burn - caused by a pot of boiling water - on my ankle and foot - it looked very similar to this. Thank you for giving me an idea of the time frame I can expect for my foot to heal.

I wanted to say thankyou for uploading this and talking about your experience in the description.

I just gave myself a burn similar to yours 6 days ago from boiling water and long story short ended up going hospital last night, they reroofed the blisters, wrapped it and then gave me antibiotics, woke up this evening and it’s felt the worst it has all week.

The symptoms you mentioned about gravity and blood flow are by far the worst for me and I think the gauze they used was sticky cause it feels like my skins trying to stretch past it every time I put my foot in a different position aside from the relaxed one they wrapped it in.

Not long made a bathroom trip via scooting from one room to the other on my butt, and then hopped to the kitchen and back to my room with painkillers and water. can’t get it rewrapped til Saturday, but your experience is giving me the sanity to deal with mine.

Thanks for making this video. I had laser surgery on the inside of my prostate and I researched it online and found a paper that said it heals like a second degree burn. Your video shows just how a second degree burn as new!!!

this is more like a deep partial thickness burn not a third degree burn

Thanks for showing different stages and period for healing burnt skin . It gives me answer of my questions about which I was searching continuously. My nephew who is lT student burnt one month ago. He is now in good healing process.

For almost the first month I put some sort of gel, like neosporin or something similar for healing aid but mostly so the bandage wouldn't stick to the burn when it was pulled off twice a day to clean.

oozing fluids and blood will permeate into the bandage effectively becoming one with it and is extremely painful to pull off when that happens. It also sets back healing to an extent!

Towards the end of the healing process it helped to expose the wound to air and let it dry out and scab quicker, but that was much later.
