Saw cannonball run when it first came out in 1981 when I was 12 years old.

I was going to the movies with my then best friend. We were a couple of fanatics about the movies. We talked, read, ate, drank, and slept the movies. And we went to the movies together once a week, every week, from the 1970s-1980s. We saw literally hundreds upon hundreds of movies together. He always chose the movies we went to see. I didnt mind. I loved the movie theatergoing experience in itself. And after seeing our movie, we'd retreat back to his place to watch even more movies on his tv, whatever happened to be airing that afternoon and evening.

We tried to see every new movie that came out regardless of the story, genre (he loved horror movies, I preferred comedies), critics reviews, or who starred in it. So, there was no particular reason we went to see Cannonball Run. It just happened to be one of the latest, newest releases to the theaters.

It initially got bad reviews mostly, but when I saw it, the theater was packed, and the audience, my friend, and myself thoroughly enjoyed it, laughing all the way through. It's a real fun, crowd pleaser of a movie and was one of the biggest box office hits of the year.

Going to the movies in the 1970s-1980s with my best friend is among my most fondest memories of not only my childhood, but my entire life.

Thats brock yates explaining the rules of the race. Hes the real life founder of the cannonball races. And this is the parking lot area of the portofino inn. Which served as the finishing line of the real races. Here in the movie, its serving as the starting line.

2:11 - 2:22 That's James Bond, a British agent with his number 007 and also a Licence to Kill. oh, Don forget. He's Finally driving an Aston Martin DB5. we know Mr. Moore didn't have one in his 007 Saga.

The great Brock Yates, he was a true motor guru and narrated a couple of daytona 500's along with Jackie Stewart.

Oh, how I wish I could hop into a hot rod and race cross country. It would make for one hell of an adventure before I die.
