Dumbbell Pullovers: Know the Difference ⚠️

When performing Dumbbell Pullovers, there are two slightly different variations you want to try.

When performing this movements with your elbows flared out, this will shift the tension to your lats.

However, when performing this exercise with your elbows tucked in, this will emphasize your Chest.

Key reminder here, because of the moment arm of this exercise, the primary mover will be more of your chest. So if you want to really target your back, utilizing a Cable Pullover will be a more efficient option.

Great job! Here's an additional tip for you- try to align your shoulder blades with the bench rather than your neck. Try it out and best of luck :)

I saw a video from a PhD explaining the opposite. Flared out works chested and tucked in works lats. That makes more sense to me that what I see in this video due to the mechanics. He also emphasized hips lower for lats and hips higher for chest activation.

don't you want to emphasize the lats with pullovers? its not really a chest builder movement the lats are what undergo stretch & do most of the work in moving the weight

This exercise is supposed to be done slowly. You have good form, but you are going way too fast. You are pushing and pulling with motion helping you. Go slower...
