Forté DPF Off-Car Foam Action Cleaner has been specifically formulated and is compatible for use on all Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF’s). Cleaning with Forté DPF Off-Car Cleaner when removed from the vehicle reduces the risk of a thermal incident, which can occur when the DPF soot loading is too high or the soot is wet and regeneration is forced.

What is a Diesel Particulate Filter?

A Diesel Particulate Filter or DPF, is fitted to the exhaust to trap soot and reduce emissions. The part was introduced to bring cars in line with the ‘Euro 5’ standard to reduce vehicle emissions.

The DPF cleans itself when the engine is running at high speeds – a process called ‘regeneration’ that takes place automatically on the motorway-type runs when the exhaust temperature is high.

If your car does not get this sort of use and the majority of journeys are short and stop/start, the regeneration process may not initiate and a warning light will illuminate, indicating the DPF is partially blocked.

Recommendation:

It is recommended to be used in conjunction with Forté DPF Cleaner & Regenerator that is applied to the fuel tank which will actively reduce soot emissions and aid passive regeneration of the Diesel Particulate Filter, to avoid the soot build up and blockage from reoccurring.

Regularly cleaning your vehicle’s fuel and oil system will help maintain the operation of your DPF. Forté recommend a Fuel System Clean every 3 months and an Oil System Clean at each service interval.

Directions for use:

1. Completely remove the DPF from the vehicle.
2. Support the DPF in an upright position with the back of the DPF facing up.
3. Apply Forté DPF Off-Car Cleaner to the DPF in the opposite direction of the exhaust flow.
4. Leave to soak for 20 minutes to allow it to eat through the soot build up or until visual run-through can be seen through the honeycomb inside the DPF.
5. For heavily blocked filers x2 Forté DPF Off-Car Cleaner may be required.
6. Rinse through with 3 litres of hot water from a kettle.
7. Gently dry the DPF with an airline before refitting.
8. Bring the vehicle up to operating temperature.
9. Use Forté DPF Cleaner & Regenerator and apply to the fuel tank, this will actively reduce soot emissions and aid passive regeneration of the Diesel Particulate Filter, helping to avoid soot build up and blockages from reoccurring.
