Windows 11 on MacBook Pro (Intel) Easy Install

If you have an Intel based MacBook you may want to run Windows 11 on it and while this is easy to do, it does require a few tweaks.

The mid-2012 A1398 MacBook Pro I was working on did have an Intel i7 CPU but did not have a TPM 2.0 and did not support secure boot, both of which are required for Windows 11. As such the default Windows 11 installer will error out and tell you this machine does not meet the minimum hardware requirements. We get around both of those and then the issue is drivers. Specifically network card drivers.

In the end, we easily get Windows on MacBook Pro to happily function.

Thank you so much! I have been trying to do this for a long time and I did not know you needed to download the additional drivers. Awesome video!

That worked, thanks. I have a 2017 MBP without touchbar (2 Thunderbolt ports). Just so you know, I had no love on the drivers. So I couldn't install the wireless driver, to update my Win 11 ... Bummer. However, once I Windows 11 in a virtual machine in Boot camp, it used the Mac's network, so it *did* then do an update. I was able to use my Boot Camp software to download the drivers, I put the drivers on the Win 11 side, restarted as Win 11 standalone, installed the Boot Camp drivers and it worked at that point.

Thanks!

you earned my sub for this. works perfectly and super easy to do. confirmed working on macbook pro 2018 15" i7.
however apple has not exposed the Intel uhd 630 to Microsoft os. so, only the dedicated gpu works, which means worse battery life - the Intel uhd chip doesnt get detected at all as a device

side note...also touch bar and track pad have limited functionality - no gestures and only basic volume, brightness and volume (tap) control on the touchbar.

Doesn't seem to work on a MacBook Pro 2018. I Get the windows install screen but no mouse and keyboard available. By connecting an external USB mouse it will get trough to the next screen but windows install will start complaining about missing drivers. Bootcamp version I have doesn't have a zipfile.. Only a folder called WindowsSupport with a bunch of folders and drivers.

I just installed Win11 on my 2015 MBA using Bootcamp and a standard Win11 ISO. I made the registry edits to bypass TPM and CPU check, but other than that, it was perfectly normal, as if it was installing Win10. It installed the Bootcamp drivers on first boot by itself. The only other thing I had to do was on the first boot to Win11, before it got to Desktop or installed Bootcamp software and drivers, it wanted me to connect to a network, with no network devices since drivers weren't installed yet. I opened task manager, closed the process, and the screen went right on to create a local account instead of connecting to the network. After I got to Desktop, drivers were installed automatically and networking and everything else works fine. Other than that though, it was just a normal Windows install via Bootcamp. Almost smoother than other experiences with SUPPORTED Windows versions lol

Excellent video. Thanks!! Just a couple of questions (I want to do this an Intel MacBook Pro 16 2019) : 1. So when you press the power button and keep pressing the option key, you can choose either MacOS or Windows 11 as usual with Bootcamp? Because you erased all the disk partitions during the Windows 11 setup as I saw? 2. What is the name of the MacOS partition usually that you mustn't screw with by deleting it? 3. Is this a Windows 11 machine only? Because you erased all the other disk partitions? Thanks SOOO MUCH in advance and I look forward to your reply...Best wishes, Anthony

Informative video! I have a question though. With this special script, is it possible to install the newer Insider Preview builds or just the version(s) it wants to forcibly download?

Update: So, it worked like a charm. I managed to install the latest version of Windows on my MBP 6, 1 mid 2010 17-inch laptop using Rufus to create the boot media with the TPM/Secure Boot features toggled. A little trial & error with the drivers but it worked out and I got almost everything working perfectly (Video drivers don't seem to install properly to enable HW acceleration, I have the Intel HD & Nvidia Geforce GT 330M combo). The only thing I noticed were the keyboard lights and keyboard functions on the fn keys.
