Hey Alex I think you should make a video on your coding journey till now and how do you make a living.

I worry that people will get the wrong impression; great you can run ARM windows 11. I can run ARM programs; but not x86 which is the bulk of apps I have. Most of my development is for x86 windows. A major major limitation. Most videos about parallels do not talk about this. I still appreciate your content, fair and square. thanks

OMG!
Nested virtualization is one last thing that stopped me from moving from Intel to Apple ARM.
Now I can upgrade!
Thx Alex for pointing this!

I agree I only want to use one computer. I've used Surface Computers & Macs. I am looking forward to the New M4 Macs & me get down to just one computer for all of my work.

Parallels is the leading virtualization software, offering unmatched stability, comprehensive features, and an excellent overall experience. However, the subscription model is the one downside for me. I would prefer a higher one-time payment over recurring monthly fees.

Something which wasn't immediately apparent to me until I had already installed Parallels, is that their licensing is per-machine, not per-user. If you have more than one machine, Parallels will refuse to run on your second (or third, fourth, etc...) machine until you close it on your first one. Being a subscription application (yet another...) the price increase for a second machine isn't a one-time cost, but a recurrent one (and at least at the time I'd checked it out a couple of years back, was very well hidden). Developers, devops, and sysadmin types tend to have a few machines, and this limit was frustrating to run into (and an expensive recurrent ask to overcome).

Sadly you still can’t log into Xcode or the App Store on a virtual macOS machine. Getting better and I’m always shocked how terrible VMware fusion is compared to parallels

Looking for that link for the Ai thing you were talking about. Even though the M4s are coming, I’m still thinking of getting a 16” M3. Looking at either 18/512 or 36/512. Buying from Best Buy so that’s the only choice. Don’t think the 16” Max base model is for me. Might be overkill.

Any suggestions?

Glad my head won’t explode, I thought that would happen until I saw the disclaimer and it put my mind at ease.

My Windows laptop has 96GB RAM + 3TB NVME so I can run VMs + Docker + VS2022 + SQL Server + Chrome 50 tabs, all at the same time. The 96GB DDR5 kit cost me 210 dollars. The extra 2TB PCIE5 NVME SSD about 250. How much would something like that cost in Mac world? 5K? 10K?

Word is nested virtualization is *only* on m3.

Great review! Can I ask a question? I build apps for Win, Linux, and MacOS but I need to build for both Intel and Silicon. Is it possible to build Linux x86, Win x86 and MacOS x86 apps through Parallels on an M1 MacOS?

Hey Alex, thank you very much for all your hard work. Is there any possibility to run .NET Framework 4.7 x86 on apple silicon Mac? Does Parallels support this, or is there some kind of translation layer that could make it possible?

Thanks for the discount! Just ordered pro version 😇

PD vsc extension is dope! You can use that extension to connect to your VM's terminal! I have Ubuntu installed and just need to use its terminal to test Linux network setup, it's annoying to jump back and force from mac to Ubuntu UI.

Yes it’s nested virtualization that am waiting for

Hi Alex. Thank you for the video. How much ram would you suggest for the MacBook Pro spec to run both MacOS, Windows and Ubuntu? I’m a .NET developer.
