I'm 91 years old and I was in the Army 70 years ago. We called that type of marching "The stockade shuffle" It was beautiful to watch.

As a Marine for 8 years. Some Marines can really sing the shit out of cadence. To the point that when you told to halt. You realize that 26 Marines in perfect formation and in unison just ran 5 miles and you feel great. I miss those times when nobody saw color. We were all just USMC green.

One of the most underrated and under appreciated scenes in Hollywood history

I was in the army in Germany in the late seventies. Our first sergeant was a big man by the name of first sergeant Rentz. He was a former drill sergeant. He taught our troop all kinds of specialty marches winning all the march contests on base. He had soul and rythim like no one else. I think back to all my fond memories of him. I was even his driver for a while. Anybody lucky enough to be under his command will have the same fond memories of him. We all called him Pops.

After you've seen the full movie you can feel the raw emotion bean feels. Especially when they dance towards him.
Brothers in arms....united as one.

When I saw this movie, I thought it was one of the best movies I had ever seen. I was about 20 year old girl living in northern Europe. Now I am 45 year old woman, living in northern Europe, and I still think this is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It's the rhythm, moves and the story. I can still remember how the End of My Journey -song goes.

I had forgotten about this movie until I was listening to Sam Cooke's "Chain Gang" and it triggered memory. This was such a sad movie, but a great one still.

I've thumbed up so many comments because they highlight all my feelings, but I've stopped just to say
I'M SO PLEASED THAT I CAME ACROSS THIS CADENCE TODAY.
Took my breath away and I teared up throughout, as my father served in the marines in the UK.
Now I have to find the movie.
Thank you to all the men and women who serve their country

I used to watch this scene on repeat as a kid and it taught me almost everything i needed to know about music, rhythm and vocals. Probably changed my life.

That's a kickass step. It was kickass performance of some kickass choreography to a kickass song. But my favorite marching scene is from 'Stripes". Pure gold.

One of the greatest scenes in a movie ever filmed.. I don’t think people understand the lot of this.

Laurence Fishburne and Martin Sheen played together on another military movie 11 years prior to this. Apocalypse Now.
A young Fishburne was only 18 years old in that movie.

spent 22 years total in the Army. Stationed in Germany 89 to 92. Throughout my Army days cadence calling was always lifted everyone’s spirits, especially the call and response ones
