Sinus Bradycardia: ECG Interpretation made easy for Nurses
In this lesson, we will discuss the common conditions that lead to a slower than normal heart rate. Recall the normal heart rate is 60 to 100 for adults. In sinus bradycardia, we have a heart rate that is below 60 beats per minute.
At the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
Identify physiological and nonphysiological factors that can result in a sinus bradycardia
Define the limitations of a Lead II ECG in a complete analysis of the patient's cardiac status
Define the features of a sinus bradycardia
Compare and contrast sinus bradycardia to normal sinus rhythm
Identify treatment options of stable and unstable sinus bradycardia
Explain the PAcED acronym
Resources
Merck Manual
Essentials of Pathophysiology, Tommie Norris, 5th ed
Quick Reference for Critical Care, Diepenbrock, 3rd ed
Nursing students, nurses, and other health care professionals benefit from learning these signs and symptoms as they are the frontline eyes of the healthcare system.
