We booked a flight 1 day in advance and it got continually delayed for 12 hours until it got cancelled. Our luggage was stuck in their system too so we couldn't even try to find another last-minute flight. Ended up losing our hotel money, and ultimately the cruise. Even 1 day in advance can be risky so be prepared ❤

Number 1 book the flight and cruise through the same agent. Flight delay = they fly you to the next port and you get compensation.

To confirm and explain a little more: This is highly true. You may be able to board as early as 10:00 but not be able to go to your stateroom until 3. You will want to have a swimming suit with you. Also, since boarding time is usually around 10-12, most guests will want to eat and then just relax at tables outside. The buffet is where most people go because other restaurants may charge extra money. I suggest either sending one person to the buffet at a time or just not going in general. There are many other restaurants on board. I would suggest that if you bring kids with you, eat lunch, get ice cream (you’ll be doing that a lot but don’t worry it’s free), then let them go swimming for a few hours. You may want to bring a deck of cards or a few small games for cold sea days when you have nothing to do. Hope this helped! ❤ :)

And this is why me and my girlfriend drove our happy asses to the cruise port and gave ourselves an entire day of extra time. We were able to see Galveston and had no troubles with time or scheduling

My one and only time on any cruise liner, it was beautiful and docked the whole time LOL. Two hours to see the ship and have some lunch, basically, but impressed. So many levels/decks, so many novelty things, like our one has the robot drink makers.

as a 5 time cruiser, nearly 6, i absolutely agree with all of this. if you are flying, always come a day or two before your cruise, always pack the necessities in a carry-on bag, and the buffets are usually crowded, but honestly the wait isn’t too long depending on the cruise line you sail with. i always sail with DCL, and they have a nice, large wrap around buffet. love the short, keep it up!!
